Got a question for any VBAC ( vagina birth after ceasarian ) ladies , well i know my scar lies different from belly botton down to bikini line , and usual cs are width at bikini line , , well question is ..... were you worried or did it actually happen ,,, that the scar would rupture while in labour , i am absolutely terrified this may happen to me , being as at the moment with me getting bigger it is already keep opening at certain spots , and is a fresh operation scar too , what the hell will it do when i have to push and my belly expands ???

Nikki, sorry you've been worried :(

I haven't had a ceasarian or an op like yours but I've done a bit of reading.

The risk of a uterine rupture is very small, less than half of one percent.

There are also things you can do to reduce this risk even further. Trying where possible to avoid being induced is one of these.

Although your scar is still not mended on the outside of your tummy, what's actually really important is how well yo have healed on the inside. It's only if your uterus splits in labour that it is a big problem. If your tummy scar opens you will probably have a few stitches but no really big concern (although not nice!). You could ask your GP/MW about how they think you're healing internally, which might reassure you? If you aren't having bright red period blood then I'd be surprised if your uterus wasn't healing up nicely though.

You also mentioned your scar being vertical rather than horizontal. If anything I think it's safer your way since the reason sometimes given for an old c-section scar to rupture in labour is that the bump suddenly drops as baby fully engages, which all of a sudden stretches the scar, therefore more likely to tear. My logic says that a vertical scar will be gently adapting to a growing tummy throughout a whole pregnancy, rather than getting a short sharp shock.

3 on it's way on the parent club thread has had 2 successful VBACs and is all in favour!, I'm sure if you popped over she'd be happy to tell her stories if you'd like reassurance.

Sorry for all that waffle, I hope it's helped in some way. Lots of love to you

    Weezl xxx

I have starteed counting days! Not months, weeks but days - a bit scary really! 24 days till my caesarian unless nature intervenes and an emergency section is done!

Due to developing Getational diabetes and obstetric cholestasis I am now having to attend 3 clinics a week at the hospital. Talk about a pest! Only positive is I am reassured all is well each time and see 2 scans a week!

Anyone else due around the 16th Nov?

Afro I know that fattybooboo and boogellyboo are due mid November. If I am late I could be 15th Nov there are a few November babies due. Not sure how many are regular posters.

Check the EDD list - search EDD in forums to get the most recent. If you are not on it you can add yourself.
Tegan Lily arrived 4 November 2009 (3 days late)

Floyd Peter arrived 9th July 2011 (1 day early) :D
  • Afroscot- I'm 4th November- 16th would be my induction date!!! Fingers crossed I don't last that long though. Welcome to the thread. Is this your first?

Hello ladies! My god I've been busy today! Been off work but doing 2 wedding cupcake towers, still doing it now actually. My shoulder is killing from piping icing. Currently writing "Mr & Mrs Edinburgh" on top of 45 cupcakes! Will be finishing when I've done these but it's taking ages!

Haven't caught up but wanted to say hello.

Hope everyone is well and I will catch up when I'm done as really need to get finished so I can have my lush bath!!!
