Nice bump you have there. Is it a boy by any chance?

I was due to go on massive shopping spree today but roads around me are gridlocked due to accident so can't get to town (honestly, no joke, we live in Cumbria!). Hope don't go into labour today (38+3 today). Yikes!

so do you just tuck the pillowcase around the mattress like a flat sheet, or are you putting your mattress inside the pillow case like a fitted sheet? sorry, I'm having trouble picturing this!

    gorgeous bump, karen!!

elasti - I feel ya'. Feels like I've only spread out in the past few wks rather than bump getting bigger. Some of my under-bump mat jeans don't fit anymore, so I find the over-bump ones the comfiest b/c they're all stretchy!

You put the mattress inside the pillow case. At first in hospital i thought cheapsakes but it does make sense if babies are bringing up milk or leaking from there nappies etc. They must go though a lot.

I can't find any over the bump ones big enough for my tum yet small enough on the leg, so i have a pair at the mo that are on the bump and i am rolling them up even though they are meant to be short leg.

I'm starting to stress about the *cough* effects of the iron tablets and the birth. Someone posted a birth story and said that during, it was found that her bowels had become impacted and doctor had to intervene  - it's scared (obviously not literally) the shoight out of me! Ooh just noticed you've posted about suffering the opposite musogirl. I had this happen a few times earlier on but it was only the odd episode and eventually calmed down. It's the iron tablets that's causing the problem with me. I would honestly stop taking them but my mum had to have 2 transfusions each for me and my bro. I just wonder how if nothing is coming out how a baby is going to manage to come out (sorry if you are having breakfast)!!

    Hiya fidget,

My experience wasn't of anyone having to intervene but I was too bunged up after 3 eggs a day for a lot of my pregnancy, and it did make a difference during labour.

I'm happy to share my experience if it will help anyone, but don't read if you're anti-poo or labour stories:)

I could feel as labour pains started that my body wanted to poo, so after each contraction I went to the loo but couldn't go.

As the pain progressed I also became more aware of a burning intense rectal pain with each contraction. I think it was the place I felt the most pain in labour apart from when his head crowned.

With each contraction, the only thing that helped was DH shoving his knee into my bum on every contraction!

I also then pooed while pushing, which is unusual since our bodies usually evacuate first.

I for one will definately not want to approach my due date constipated :(

Hope this helps, and again sorry for TMI :)

  • Hi all,

So glad everything is OK Merfe. Love the scan pic :j

My GP has referred me to the early pregnancy unit for a scan, just waiting for them to phone me to tell me when I can go in. It might be today but will probably be Monday  Still not in any pain which I'm taking to be a good sign :o Bleeding is coming and going, and all colours ranging from pink, bright red, dark red & dark brown, but still not too heavy, only when I wipe (sorry if tmi!)

Just had 3 crumpets and a custard slice for lunch - not very healthy but very yummy!
