Have just been reading about swaddling and though some of you might like to read what Dr Sears says about it. He says "swaddling babies too often and for too long may harm their hip development. In order for the ball-and-socket structures of the hip joint to develop properly, babies need to have freely swinging motion of their legs and lie or sleep with their legs outward in a frog position. Leaving their legs unbound is especially crucial in the first few months, when the hip joint is rapidly developing. Swaddling you baby for a few hours every few days won't harm her hip development, but avoid letting her sleep tightly swaddled for long periods of time, such as through the night."

yorkygal thats what we are having here too although I was craving a bacon sarnie but OH refused to go to asda and get bacon :( lol

jenny that is interesting about swaddling, my dd was too wriggly to be swaddled in a blanket needed one of those special ones but couldnt justify the cost (if I had of thought about using it in subsequent pregnancies I probably could have). and DS was like a doll who as you lay him onto his back he would go to sleep - he was born in a heat wave summer so i just put a sheet losely over him. He usually kicked it off and by winter progessed to sleeping bags which were brilliant and I'm hoping i didnt ebay them all and there are some in the loft - they were all neutral colours as well.
  • Merfe - glad everything is okay

Jennyfleur - hugs to you. I can't really add to what has already been said. Hope we see you on here soon.

Jennynoo - yay for maternity leave.

32B- glad things are on the up with your sister. More positive vibes you (and your family)

Beenie - sorry about your crap ex. Wish there was something magical that could happen to make things better but unfortunately there is nothing I can do except send you dodgy hugs:grouphug:

Ali - fingers crossed with your scan today.

Helen - I think I may stay in and avoid people if they start being like that! i can't believe anyone is saying that stuff to you. Stay strong, hopefully not too long for you now.

Nanc - yay for last day at work.:T

Baby sleeping bags - I have a few from my friend so I may vary between sheets and blankets and sleeping bag and see how it goes. Jr may have a preference:D

Right I am working up the courage to call BT again. But I decided last night as I lay awake worrying about it, that I am going to stop my volunteer work and hand it over to another volunteer. I am obviously not able to cope with it if I lose my temper with BT. Its a shame cause I really like the gentleman i am helping but I think it will be for the best.

Hugs and labour vibes to everyone else who needs them.

It came with a matress and a sheet, You don't need lots of things for a moses basket they really aren't in them long enough. I am not buying any other sheets for it as i can wash and dry it in the same day and put it back on.

Anyone bought or thinking of getting a beanbag to have the baby on in the lounge so you don't have to take the moses basket down stairs? I didn't have one with ds but my friends little girl had one although it was just a huge normal one not a baby one like you can get that has straps on. It was really useful for her when she wanted to nip to the loo she put her on it and knew she was safe.
She also let her sleep on it quite a lot in the day. I have seen these in mothercare but am not going to waste that amount on one.
I have seen one in our local baby shop for £20 although it doesn't have any straps and it is a not as thick but it is a donkey i think the range is called noukie.

  • I have a bump picture and don't really want to put it on my facebook (which is what I usually do and then attach a link). How do I put it straight on my post?

I would be worried about putting a baby on a normal beanbag as I would assume it's just as risky as having baby sleep on a sofa which is not allowed due to SIDS.
