  • Muso, no I don't have a slow cooker I'm afraid. Do they use a lot less energey than the oven then? I would have thought that the fact that you'd have them on for so much longer would mean it wasn't much different.

Really wish I hadn't got up and put facebook on this morning.....just seen the news about Stephen Gately :( I was a huge Boyzone fan through all my teenage years and went to see them on both their recent tours. Can't believe how upset I am.

SJ some of them apparently have a consumption rate similar to low watt bulb compared to an oven that draws major power, honestly i tried mum's old cooker (elec) and her meter was whizzing then put the SC on and it was slow like a bulb on. Would you rather a 3 bar fire on or a light bulb?

SJ , just remember to log when you talked to them and you must put it in writing in a recorded letter as you have the proof you have advised them , if you need further help or they don't come and fix it within a certain amount of time call your local environmental health for what to do next as he is responsible , and how are you supposed to feed your self if the cooker is no longer working , don't leave it until its to late , just double check your tenant agreement to make sure he is responsible for the repairs , unless there is a clause in the lease to state he is not responsible to mend it then he must fix it .

  • Ahh ok, well in that case I might invest!! My grandma was offering me hers a while ago and I never took it but if she's still got it I might go get it :)

It is sad about Stephen Gately too. I was never a massive fan but he seemed like a good guy and he was just so young.

SJ- Am gonna have to agree with the others, slow cookers are a god send. And strangley yes, although they can be on all day they use far less energy, don't know the costing exactly but remember it being mentioned on the OS thread at some point. My mum Knows how much I love mine, but as I cook the same 3/4 meals in it she has bought me a cook book that i'll get when I go up to hers in a couple of weeks. Really wanna do Rice Pud but OH doesnt like it, any one know if it freezes? And my Landlord is useless too, sent them an email 4 weeks ago about the water pressure in our boiler and haven't heard a sausage from them!

Well todays plans a) am gonna sort thru the collection of clothes I have bought/been given over the years and turf out all the boys stuff, have some Humphreys corner that someone at work wants to buy :D, some of the new stuff will put aside maybe for friends but the used stuff will give away. b) the computer desk is very cluttered so going to attack that too.

Jenny - sorry your feeling down today xx

Thanks for that, that's really useful.
I will get onto the agents again tomorrow and take it from there. Nice to know what my rights are though!
  • Morning all.

Shocked about Stephen Gately! Not a huge BZ fan but he always seemed like a nice guy. Dreadfully sad for his family and OH, I think they were together for quite a while.

We had HM lasagne last night too - was nice but not one of my best efforts as the sauce was too runny and the pasta slightly undercooked :o got loads left though so maybe it will be better second time round. Got a lovely M&S chicken that I'm going to roast later on, with stuffing and all the trimmings. I've been saying for years that I should get a slow cooker but have never got round to it, will get one when we move as we'll have a bigger kitchen. I like to cook in bulk so I can freeze more portions, can you get ones with large capacity bowls?

Loved your video EA, how lovely to hear the heartbeat! And your voice is fine! :T

Other than ironing and cooking the roast later, it's another quiet day today for me as OH is gonna be studying upstairs all day, so it's just me & ds. I reckon we'll play for a bit on the Wii and watch some DVDs. I quite fancy watching Wall-E :D

Just got back from picking up a new double buggy that I won off ebay. It's only been used a few times and still looks brand new! Got to love a bargain :)

Should really get to grips with the housework too but tempting to just start an ebay listing spree again and get rid of some more junk.
