Aww poor lady - she is lovely - I remember seeing her being interviewed on Oprah a couple of years ago.
She is a very sweet lady, her and Jas were chalk and cheese in loads of ways but they brought the very best out in each other. I honestly think that left to their own devices they would have been together for life if Jas had lived.
She made him so happy though.:A

Don't even know what one is BB!
Toto, I've seen that too, but from the outside as a fan who's spent the last ten years following various bands around on tour. Terrorvision are enjoying things a hell of a lot more now they don't have the record label pressure, it's a side line now and they can just enjoy the music and stuff. Whereas on the last tour I went to Kaiser Chiefs just looked so miserable and worn out.Unless I say otherwise 'you' means the general you not you specifically.0 -
Have to agree with Z, an ex rock star who I kind of know (only to speak to), had a big drugs problem a few years ago, which got worse because he saw his friends getting married and being happy, now he's got a wife and kids he's really together and much happier. I think having a future to look forward to is important. Although I can also see what Toto means, about enjoying what you have now rather than saving up for things. It's taken me years to get dad to see that he should be enjoying life and having fun rather than paying a mortgage so we've got something when he's gone, what's the point in that? (for him I mean, obviously I can see a point for me and sis!)
Living life for now means grabbing every opportunity that comes along no matter how scary it is. Life sometimes throws us off course and for me it means that I need to do something new rather than dwell on what might have been.:A

I had a voucher for a free flybe voucher. I think I put it somewhere in a huff because OH wouldn't get one (big brother might do something like take his phone number and use it for something really secretive and Orwellian - he's so paranoid ) and now I want to use mine.
At least I hope I put it somewhere and didn't throw it out."Stay Wonky":D

You are right. Record labels care about making money as quickly as possible. Musos are worked to the point of collapse to get that quick fast buck. No one cares about the next album they just want to milk every last penny out of now.
It's not just the time spent on stage, that's the good bit. it's the promo, the interviews and all of the rest of it. Today hubby had 13 promo gigs plus one performace tonight then they have to drive 650 miles overnight to get to the next city in a splitter van, so the guys are all driving.:A

Oh I know Toto, I know how knackering it is just following them on tour with all the travelling, and that's without interviews, tv and radio shows, writing new songs... I know a lot of roadies too and I honestly don't know how or why they do it!Unless I say otherwise 'you' means the general you not you specifically.0

This is true but musicians are so prone to addictions. What they get addicted to is the adrenalin rush. You are bred to thrive on the high of performing but you can only get that high if you can put aside your normal and natural insecurities and fears. This is how the whole thing starts, you take drugs to help you perform then have to take drugs to reproduce the rush of performing. It becomes a cycle of blocking and then reproducing adrenalin just to function.
Well I can see how that would work - it's not a great step from the area of obession (what else is repeating the same patterns/chords over and over again going to be described as?) to addiction. But its not what we enjoy that makes us, its what we do and hate that makes us.It isn't about being a party animal at all and it isn't always a choice. There is so much pressure to get the job done, to make money for the record label that they have to take drugs to work.
Get Chronic Fatigue, or labryrinthis, or any number of other stress-related diseases to realise what is important in this world. Somebody tearing a strip off you when you're trying to avoid puking on them kind of puts things in perspective...I probably haven't explained that too well, have I.
I think you have... :kisses3:"Follow the money!" - Deepthroat (AKA William Mark Felt Sr - Associate Director of the FBI)
"We were born and raised in a summer haze." Adele 'Someone like you.'
"Blowing your mind, 'cause you know what you'll find, when you're looking for things in the sky." OMD 'Julia's Song'0
