I'm with Ebico and have been with them a year this month and have no intention of changing. They have no standing charges on both lecci and gas, no price sculpting and they only have one tarrif, even if you pay DD or cash or cheque, you pay the same amount.
Bills are easy to read, every 3 months + free phone number.
I'm happy with them, you know where you are.0 -
Yes James, great company. Ideal for low users, even the electricity.
The overall costs are reducible by temporally switching via Quidco to whoever is paying the most cashback. Do this in summer and then switch back to Ebico.
This way you can feel good in being part of an ethical company and at the same time get the less that straightforward other energy companies to pick up the tab.0 -
im with them for both fuels. i too swapped from bg after numerous problems with them.
easy to switch and easy to work out your own bills with them as its all charged at one rate.
i pay quarterly on receipt of bill with them. i prefer this method.
one of the best things ive done is swap to them.
go for it.
i think youve got to pay your bg bills before you swap? correct me if im wrong.
i also take meter readings every week now so i know what im using per week, 1 unit of gas on the meter (metric meter) is 41p, 1 unit of elec on the meter is 13.14p. simple as that as its all at one rate !!!!!!!!0 -
If your debts alone are £400 then you should think carefully before switching to Ebico. As you are prepared to pay by Direct Debit there are plenty of reasonable deals out there (including some from British Gas.)
Why are you outraged? Are you sure it isn't misplaced frustration at your own behaviour?0 -
I switched to Ebico for Gas about a year ago and I have had no problems at all and I was really nervous about doing it as I had never heard of Ebico before I used this site. British Gas was cheaper for my electricity. I also take meter readings every week and it makes you much more aware of what you are using (and the Owl monitor is good too).0

Ebico gas is pretty competitive - especially for low users when it is cheap.
Electricity is very expensive.
Lack of dual fuel discount and direct debit discount, make it uncompetitive on price for most people.
That said it appears to be an excellent company.0 -
cardew i agree with you about dd discounts, but i prefer to pay on receipt of bill quarterly. just my personal choice.
i use 2250kwh of electric annually and its £295 with ebico, i could get it for £279 with bg paying on receipt of bill.but i hate bg and would never return to them.
if i paid monthly dd i could get it for around £250 per year bg online websaver 4.
as i said just my personal choice, having said that i think i will get my consumption to under 2000kwh this year.0 -
If the posts on this board are anything to go by, a good proportion of the energy users are not able to comprehend their bills.
For those of us who can, we should support the simple bill approach of Ebico to the hilt, even if it costs a few quid more.
Hopefully if , one day, bills are made simpler, then maybe the comparison sites could be taken out of the equation.0 -
There should be ONE comparison site, run by OFGEM/the Govt.Call me Carmine....
HAVE YOU SEEN QUENTIN'S CASHBACK CARD??0 -
