oooh interesting, My OH commutes just over an hour and a half to work and then again home, he leaves the house at 6a.m if he is on early and is home by 8p.m, and leaves house at 7:30a.m if on a late and is home around 10 p.m. He has tuesdays off for childcare reasons and usually one of the weekend days. I work full time, usual days Monday to Friday, and tutor 2 evenings a week, sometimes work Saturdays. So I guess not lot.
What really annoys me is Christmas, he has to open the store at 7a.m on boxing day, so leaves the house at 4:30a.m. in the morning, then is not home till at least 8 p.m. When will companies realsie that people only have so much money to spend and if they opend at the normal time or even a day later, people would still buy the goods. The stores would still make money and the staff would hae better moral. sorry to go off topic but aghhhhhh!'we don't stop playing because we get old, we get old because we stop playing'0 -

I've been with my partner for 4 years now.
We lived together for 10 months until I had to move back to my hometown after taking a new role at work that meant my hours making it impossible to get to work (I don't drive). We can go a month without seeingf each other but talk on the phone every night.
In June I moved into a new house that I'm buying with my sister.
My partner knows he now has to make the effort to come over to see me and does but we still do things by ourselves. A case in point is him going to see the Mott the Hoople reunion next month (I'd already booked to see a gig in Lincolnshire with my sister that night). But when he found out about a related event a couple of days earlier he called me and suggested we both go together - he can get his Mott fix whilst I do some shopping in Covent Garden.
So far, it works. I did have fears that the move would split us apart but we've both realised we just have to make more effort. And we both know that if it wasn't for our work commitments in other cities we would live together again.0 -

I have been married 11 years and from last October the OH started to work away all week, he could work locally but it would mean a 5k drop in salary, so i have the best of both worlds, a "single mum" during the week and the support from him when hes home weekends, though he does drive me mad by the time Monday comes round!! I get to watch what i want during the week and weekends he gets to watch his programmes (but whats the attraction of watching a repeat of a repeat of a repeat of top gear? I spoil it by saying whos on it and i dont even watch it!!!)
The most time we spent apart was 7 weeks when i went on hols with the kids to the Caribbean ( he could only get two weeks off and the airfare for him alone was over £1,000 so he decided to stay and work). And yes the lady in the avatar is me

Every day, from 5.30pm until bedtime, then weekends.
I would be unhappy if he had a job which took him away from us. His Dad was a truck driver and he only saw him at weekends, and he hated growing up with his Dad hardly ever there.Cross Stitch Cafe member No. 32012 170-194 2013 195-207.Hello Kitty ballerina 208.AVA 209.OLIVIA 210.ELLA 211.CARLA 212.LOUISE 213.CHARLEY 214.Mother & Child 215.Stop Faffing Completed 2014 216.Stitchers Sampler. 217.Let Them Be Small 218.Keep Calm 219. I see my DH every day, we've been together for 14 years.
He works shifts, so sometimes it's a peck on the cheek in the morning then I he works till 7pm, or he's on nightshift so I only see him for a couple of hours at evening meal time (teatime for us!) before he goes to work.
When he's not working I see him anytime I'm home.
However, I can pop in and see him when he's on an early shift because we both work in the same dept. of a large factory.:D
IT works well for us, I think we see each other often enough to connect but not live in each other's pockets 24/7.Member of the first Mortgage Free in 3 challenge, no.19

OH moved in with me after knowing him for 3 weeks - that was 14 years ago!
We have had times when he has been away for 6 months. (just re read this & it sounds like he was in prison....he wasn't!)
When I was pregnant with our first baby & for LO's first 9 months he was away for 6 weeks then home for 2 - for about 18 months.
He has had periods when he is home every night. At the moment he is working in Scotland so he goes lunchtime on Sunday & gets home dinnertime on Friday.
We are both quite easy going & don't have any real issues although it does take a while to get back into a routine when he is home. I am quite independant & will give anything a go so he does not come home to a list of chores!0 -
I see mine in passing mon to fri but all day sat and sun.Taking responsibility one penny at a time!0
