Both sets of children already have houses. Your own children will need someone to pay the mortgage, whereas hers (sorry DUTR
).
Lizzie, I try to grow respecting women and as you know I don't see my daughter and have good explanation to tell her if chance ever comes about, however I just can't buy into HER child(ren) when it needs some kind of doner to make them in the 1st place.
When the child wants something , all of a sudden it's their children
My will states my child will only get CS while of a qualifying age, and (if) any future children only those where my name appears on the BC will qualify for anything extra. I know this is correct as sadly one of my friends passed away and the pwc only gets the CS the same as when he were alive, his mum got the rest, when she passed away his sibling got the estate.0 -

Although a public forum, I was speaking to DS as if it was just the 2 of us talking. I was separating the children of the nrp by saying her meaning pwc and your meaning DS.
Your will is addressing the CS, DS is not, so there is a difference. I agree the maximum would only ever be what could have been paid if nrp still alive - hence with the costs, it isn't worth challenging for most people.
Again after CS part, you are clearly stating the qualifying conditions for a child being recognised in your will - your name on birth certificate.0 -

but then I am not her.....
Knowing neither pwc or nrrp families are poor (using both options here), I would be tempted to go for a few of the childrens charities instead.0 -

I can assure you I am well aware of the birds and the bees and the need for 2 people to concieve children;). It was merely a phrase I used to make the post more clear:rolleyes: Is that cleared up:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:0 -
Can I cause more upset please.:D
Scenario: DH dies in a car crash, I'm at home with our child at the time. so i'm left alive, am I liable for maintainence, i'm nrpp, would I then be liable to pay the pwc for the next 5 yrs. So saying I had different jobs paying different wages could she take me to the csa whenever she pleased because she thought she might get more money? in effect would that then put me in the position of now having the job of nrp?
Also, as I am nrpp (me and the nrp are married if that makes a difference) could she turn around and say i'm stopping you from seeing the child your not allowed any contact? if she did would it be worth taking it through court to make her give me contact? or would it be as i'm nrpp I wouldnt be entitled to anything because without the nrp i'm no relation to her or the child 'iyswim'
btw what does AFAIK mean?0 -
Of course you can cause more upset;)
Spoke to solicitor this morning and from a court point of view unless you were left a HHHHUUUUUGGGEEE amount of cash from nrp's death and they deemed it suitable for pwc to claim off his estate then he has told me that as a nrpp you are not liable for the pwc's and nrp's children. Unfortunately again it would be very difficult for you to fight her in court for access as you are not actually their parent.
The solicitor has assured me that the way we have done our wills our pwc would not be successful in the event of a claim on our estate phew:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:0 -
no worries for me on that score. If me and DH died tomorrow the only thing our pwc would have to inherit would be all our bad debt:rotfl: but she should be happy because there is lots of it, lmao, as she always wants more this should suit her:rolleyes: lol:D

Crikey, this thread actually made me throw up a little in my mouth at the thought of the unseemly scrabble for cash presented in some of the scenarios.
Can I just repeat the good advice given which is to "make a Will"! As well as, "review your life assurance"They deem him their worst enemy who tells them the truth. -- Plato0 -
I love a good theory/scenario and my favourite one "what if ...:rotfl:
thank you Zara, I had no hope of guessing that one, and had been meaning to ask what it meant for ages just kept forgetting:o0
