  • My dearest Dad went and put the deposit down on the venue today.

I have asked the OH for the last time if this is all a big practical joke as I've now spent money on the event. He says it'd be an expensive joke what with the ring and all!

Also ordered some potential wedding shoes today. Fun!!

Ooo, and booked an appt to give notice.

So now I can plan in earnest - yet I have no idea what to do next!

Its all very exciting. or scary, I'm not sure which. :p

Baldrick, does it have to be this way? Our valued friendship ending with me cutting you up into strips and telling the prince that you walked over a very sharp cattle grid in an extremely heavy hat?

I know Woolley hall as I'm only in Sheffield. Lovely!! I've only seen pictures but it did look nice. :D

    You're the day before me.

Its all very exciting once you book as you can really start to plan.

  • OMG you are all so organised! 366 days to go and all that's (provisionally) booked is the venue - thought I was doing well seeing as we've only been engaged for 5 weeks?
Am planning on making final decisions re band and photographer this weekend and then leaving the rest until the new year but Im being told that I'm crazy and need to get everything done now?! Any thoughts?

What date are you getting married?

Have you booked your chuch/venue for the ceremony?

While the venue is held provisionally, get your ceremony sorted because once your ceremony and venue has been booked properly, that's when the real planning can start! :D

The earlier you book, the better and don't forget, if you book before the new year, some companies will offer you this years prices! x

Thanks Trying_really_hard, I saw it on the council website and thought looks nice but cant be that nice surely but soon as I went I fell in love. Had the proper tour this weekend and there was squirrels and rabbits running around in the gardens (I am a complete rabbit nut so was v excited).

I am trying to get things sorted in my head but not wanting to do everything all at once! Very tempting to do so. My mum is already on with table decorations and seeing what can be done.

Asking the bridesmaids this weekend - cant wait to see their faces!!

Girl-in-a-hat, I've only been engaged a similar amount of time and my 'Done' list is not extensive....yet :-)

Hi Shellsuit, thanks for replying - had seen some of your posts on here, all very helpful! We're getting married on 16th Oct. Ceremony and reception are at the same place - all reserved just having to wait a while to meet with their wedding planner to finalise the arrangements and pay the deposit. Once that's done I think it might feel real! Good point about prices , hadn't thought about that but makes sense with VAT going back up to 17.5% in Jan - even 2.5% makes a big difference!
