lol shellsuit!
our guest list issues arent too bad, just one person his mum made a fuss over being invited, but i dont think they will come anyway, its more friends. i have a couple of people i consider pretty good friends, and would like to invite them but numbers are tight and two of these friends have longstanding partners, but i dont know them, have never met them, so cant decide what to do!
and i have a friend who was my best friend until january - when she didnt invite me to her birthday - because someone else wouldnt have come, i confronted her about it, and left it that still hope she had a good time and to txt me when she wanted to sort it out. she hasnt been in touch since, but i know if i dont invite her then i am effectively ending the friendship and kind of dont want to do that, i dont know what to do!!!!
any advice anyone?
At my first wedding (:o just that one, it always makes me sound like Liz Taylor when I put that) My bridesmaid was my best friend of years, and best man was OH best friend for years, now 14 years later I have spoken to neither of them for 12 years!! I find weddings can bring out stuff in people which makes them behave in an odd way. And as you get older (I am old) you make different friends at different times of your life depending on what you life is doing!
This christmas I made a decision to stop 'trying' to be a friend to somone I have known 18 years, this may sound cruel, but it was me visiting her, but in the whole 8 years I have lived 40 mins drive she never visited here, I sent birthday/christmas cards and presents to her child, but the moment that child was born there on, she never bothered with my daughter at all even though she'd known her from birth. Basically she became one of 'those' the 'world must love my children' women.
So basically no real advice but deep down you will know whether its worth the struggle to maintain a freindship, and to add I have another freind who lives miles and miles away and we see each other maybe once a year, but we will always look out for each other, because we don't need to see each other but know if one of us needs it the other will be there!:rotfl:Ahahah got my signature removed for claiming MSE thought it was too boring :rotfl:0 -
were looking at honeymoons just now, we now officially have enough money for the wedding and any savings now can be "extras" so for me honeymoon is a priority now! where are you all going? i need inspiration!would love to win an ipad!

Thought i would bump this since its been quiet for a couple weeks
My plans are now growing are and legs!!! basically so many people are paying for so much of the wedding that we have almost paid it off so i now keep adding extras! not very MSE i know so i must stop!
Everything is pretty much done now, were getting invites printed in next 2 weeks and we are decorating them with ribbon and pearls.
My dad told us to go down the other night to see what we could find for our honeymoon and has said he will pay for itDont know where were going yet as he is going to book it about a month before as we can get a better deal for same amount of money. I dont really care where we go and cant complain if he paying for it anyway.
Its 26 weeks on saturday to our day and its coming in so quick !!!!
how is everyone else getting on?would love to win an ipad!

Wow hunnycat that must mean it's 27 weeks to my wedding - doesn't sound much when you put it like that!!! Ooh, I'm getting so excited.
I get married on 9th October and my biggest stress at the mo is bridesmaids dresses!!! Trying to keep the girls and my mum happy. Have found the most gorgeous adults dresses, and have just found out they're in the debenhams sale!!! v happy. just need to find something for two little girls now that is going to match and not spend a fortune.
My next biggest worry is flowers....need to arrange some appointments. Most other stuff has been sorted, except the men's suits. Our invites have been designed and waiting for the proof to come through so the proper order can come in!

I feel pants at the mo.
OH "doesn't feel he has anyone who fits the bill" for his best man. Great - tell me that 6 months before the wedding.
Just don't know what to suggest for him - I understand what he's saying but it doesn't help.
Plus, he's suggested he keep his long hair (I mean beyond shoulder length) for the wedding as he needs a new photo for his passport. I don't want to appear to nag but I don't want him with longer hair than me for the wedding.
To everyone who is doing well, keep it going! I need to get out of my rut and start doing something. How long til pay day?

26 weeks today ~ crikey, doesn't sound long at all when we're down to so many weeks!
I have mentioned it on another thread, but we have to go and give notice again on the 12th of this month.
We're not marrying at the venue now, we're getting married at the town hall, but going to the venue straight afterwards for the day and evening.
We#ve asked the venue to knock £60 off the balance, as it's their fault we have to give notice again, but they will be nobody there to give us an answer till Tuesday, so fingers crossed!
We're going on holiday in the middle of July, so once we get back, it will be all guns blazing, sorting out daughters bridesmaid dress, OH's suit and shoes, son's suit, babies outfit, flowers etc...Tank fly boss walk jam nitty gritty...0 -

I feel that way too
My Dad currently has longer hair than me  I've told him he better have it cut, he's 60 for gods sake
My Mum is being a real pain in the !!!!! with regards to her outfit, I wouldn't mind but she isn't even paying for it!!!
I stupidly went told my hairdressers "Do what you want with it" so now have hair 1.5" above my shoulder(I went in with long hair, roughlt where you bra fastener goes)
To top it all off I have eaten like a pig all week

Paperwork all sorted!!! Gave the forms to the reg in the area we are getting married in, after sorting out the flipping birthcert problem! Thankfully our local office was lovely and did all the paperwork without sight of the 'full' birthcerts on the promise we brought them in the moment we got them (we did it in three days!) Just need to push OH to remember to put his share of the budget in the bank!:rotfl:Ahahah got my signature removed for claiming MSE thought it was too boring :rotfl:0

Glad you're sorted Franny!
Little bit of good news here ~ OH went this morning to pay some money to the venue and they are knocking what it is going to cost us to give notice again, off the bill!
Oh and apparantly, the events manager, who we saw first when we booked, and who was crap, is leaving in 2 weeks ~ wonder why, hmmmmm?!Tank fly boss walk jam nitty gritty...0 -
