finally got through to registry office , turns out the number that was advertised was wrong so it was taking me to a different dept!

the guy said 3 months before i can hand forms in to give notice. Think i will go get all forms just now though and have them ready to go in with as i am terrible at putting things off :o

3 months before, and what if everything was booked and they couldn't fit you in/didn't have anyone free, or couldn't even do that date?

We gave notice a year before our date to be on the safe side lol!

oh we dont need a registrar we just need the licence as we are having a humanist service. so its just to put the forms in for the banns and the schedule. this is why i was confused as everything was around booking the registrar it said nothing about submitting forms for anyone else to marry us :)

So you just need to give notice, and you book the humanist seperately? Think I'm with you now lol!

    I haven't got a clue about those weddings, what's the difference? :o

    yep you got it :)

humanist is a non religious personal service which we write with the celebrant and shape it around what we want .
we need to give notice like you would if you were having a church wedding as there needs to be a licence granted and a schedule for the celebrant to sign and us to sign with witnesses..

We went humanist as were non religious and i wanted something a bit different and more personal to the registrar. Its also costing us less to have the humanist which is a bonus!!!

  • Don't you have to have a seperate ceremony with a registrar too to complete the legal formalities beforehand? I didn't think a humanist service was a legally binding wedding....?

    Unless they are in Scotland.

If they are in the UK or Wales, they have to have a registrar present, or still have a civil ceremony.

(I've been reading up on them lol)

She has been on the website looking at the shoes they sell and picked a pair she wants but the new styles are in and the lady in the shop is going to let her have a good play:T
