    Morning all,

YM please notch one more on for me :)

Fay, I spend £5 a day on alcohol, BUT I've not included the £1.50 I spend on non-alcoholic beer, I buy this incase of being accused of smelling of alcohol :o so I actually spend £6.50 a day , this is what I'm going to stick in a pot :) woohoo that's £201.50 for October :D

  • YM, you may have missed my post. Can you put me down for 2 AFD so far in Sept please.

The Woman who Walked into Doors is an excellent book, but it is very sad. If anyone wants it, let me know and I'll put it in the post, I've read it twice. I'd like it back but dont mind lending it out.....

Wow...thats a great incentive for you Jo !! Liking the payrise concept too Fay.

I must say I am noticing a vast reduction in what I spend at the tills too....less visits to the supermarket mean less impulse buying of non essentials !

Also I am saving my money seperately away from daily outgoings...can`t believe I used to waste so much on drink!

    Have a great day everyone.
  • Morning all

Sorry, I've not been getting on here at all lately. So much going on (in a good way) that I'm not finding the time to get on the pooter! I know I'll be AF tonight and tomorrow as have places I need to be driving so my final tally for September will be 21 please Ym.

Fay - I'm really sorry my dear but you best take me off your chart for October. Don't want to mess up your figures by never reporting in!:rotfl:Hopefully life will calm down soon and I'll be able to rejoin!

Hope everyone is ok! I'll try and lurk and keep up!

    Miss P
    xx

    Sorry about the following prattle...........:)

Last year when I found this thread I put a jar on my desk and when my resolve was greatest (in the morning) I put in a fiver - my wine money. The thinking for me was the money was there - it was in the jar meaning I wanted an AFD - if I wanted wine I had to take the money out of the jar.

Also the money in the jar would have been spent before on wine - so I told myself for the first wee while that money was MY MONEY not the house, kids, shopping etc MINE and I was allowed to use it as I wanted - I always looked at things and said I cant afford that for me (then put a bottle of wine in my trolley). SO - I started to use it for flowers, candles, etc wee treats just for me.

I know what you mean about going to the supermarket less - I have again be going alot in the evening for 'bits' (really it has only been for wine but I can't just put wine in my basket so I mask it with a whole load of other things I don't really need.

So - for me a biggie is keeping away from the supermarket (also saves money)

I keep bread and milk in house if you can (I freeze enough for a week)

Only go shopping early morning, lunchtime or when I am not in my danger time (early evening for me just after work)

Meal plan - then there's no temptation to 'go out and pick something up' and accidentally find wine in the basket too - I was cutting back on food spends and now if I buy a bottle wine aday its more than I average spend on food - shocking

I am allowed treats with my wine money - if I keep off the wine.

I often don't listen to myself but those small things have helped me a bit

That and texting Jo or Miss P enroute to the supermarket :)

PS Miss P - done me dear :) ((hugs))

Plus, remember that's real money that you had, so if you are a basic rate taxpayer that's really £240 a month, and so you have actually given yourself the equivalent of an annual payrise of around £2880!!!! (not exact, but near enough!). Much more if you are a higher rate tax payer!!

  • Fay that sounds like a fab idea...am hoping to be here properly in October (September has been a dead loss for me) so could you put me down for 20/31 for Oct - my spend is I guess £4-5 per day (1 bottle of cheapyish wine) so make it £4.50 so total saving £89! that is a lot of money with Christmas round the corner.....(not to mention dh savings which I won't include but with me being af he usually is then too which will be more spondoolys for Christmas treats :j)

I will be trying to read back several millions of pages over the next few days...hope everyone is doing ok...
