The giving up/cutting down alcohol support thread! Part 5

I do agree with Lurks here, it is also a cutting down thread and those that can drink shouldn't be penalised or feel that they are doing something wrong by drinking?
Quite right that they are not doing anything wrong, but I am sure those people who are cutting down can go without a drink for a couple of hours.
I don't know if I'd feel comfortable drinking in front of someone who was desperately trying hard not to drink at a cutting down/giving up meet up.
It just doesn't seem right to me. That's just me though. I don't think I'd smoke at a cutting down/quitting smoking support group meet up either.Saying that, socially, it doesn't have an impact on my drinking as I'm an 'indoors' drinker. But I think we can all be sensible and even if we aren't, then we've only ourselves to blame, not the people we are with or the situation we are in.
Of course - we have no control of people, places or things.
However, when people are struggling, then limiting temptation is a good thing isn't it?0 -

I'll join ya for the meet up as I work in London.
I must say I'm am feeling good today, even though did not sleep at all well last night, was dreaming about bathroom wall tiles, how sad LOL.0 -
Why don't we meet early ish or for a 'late breakfast/brunch breakfast' NOT all social occasions need to even consider alcohol.
What folks do after/during a catch up I think is thier own affair - I mean we're talking about meeting up for food maybe (?) as after all this mad dieting we'll need it and if we've eaten we'll need a stroll - ?
I'd be up for brunch followed by a skip or so through a park.................with coffee lateror whatever
Darwin fits - me, my bikes, my walking boots and 3 others (DD, DS and Peedie!)

PPPPPS (last one honest)
Graeme I see what you are saying but we're not just give uppers cutter downers
We're all chums - we all support each other - and what I love about this thread is that no one ever judges
Therefore - I say lets meet up with bells on and enjoy itthere doesn't have to be any pre-determined do's and don'ts (IMHO) - there will be food tho won't there???????????

Good evening all,
I am up for a early lunch meet. Just need time to drop DD off somewhere and drive 2.5 hours and find parking space . And as I am driving, no temptation there.
Feeling tired again today, these 12 hour days are getting a bit straining. Need to get DD to bed asap to get some quiet time. Looong list of stuff to do but will do what I can after that diet programme this evening. HB that is 12 for me please."Everything will be alright in the end. If it's not alright, it's not the end."
