The giving up/cutting down alcohol support thread! Part 5

That is what I thought about the behaving myself! I was wondering if everyone had to be AF for the meet up, well it would make sense.:o:D
I think it'd be better to meet in a place not serving alcohol. No-one is on this thread because they can take it or leave it. We all have a slightly unhealthy relationship with alcohol (some, like me, more than others) , and we should think of the people trying to be AF. Coffee/Tea etc should be the drink of choice. I am sure the people cutting down can lay off the booze for a few hours.
This should be about support, encouragement, and friendship.0 -

Yes, thanks Budgie, I did resist.:) Whatever I'm doing on this detox does seem to be having some type of an effect.

Happy New Year everyone. Not been back for a while but have been lurking again LOL.
I want to join the challenge for January and pledge 10 AF Days for this month.
I have done 1 so far (last night), but have got myself back into the right frame of mind, I think.
I also want to try and lose weight, having watched the Big Fat Diet on Channel 4 has started to get me motivated. Feel so sluggish after all eating and DRINKING over christmas, well more like the constant drinking I tend to do, like other have said on here, once I start I cannot stop. I swapped the booze for water and hot chocloate drinks last night. This should also help with the calorie counting as well.
cheers everyone

I don't think it matters whether alcohol is 'available' or not. We are a group and for the amount of time that we are together, we can all be sensible and not drink, surely. From what I have read, the people that have trouble in social situations (including me) is where they are with a group of drinkers and are being encouraged to have 'just one'. this is understandable. However, there will be no one doing that at our meet. The 'norm' will be to have a soft drink. i don't think the location and availability of alcohol is therefore relevant

Speak for yourself
Think you're both right. I won't be drinking that day. Mainly cos I want you all to see me as a sensible person, rather than the garbled rubbish speaking eejit I become when I've had a drink!:D

I do agree with Lurks here, it is also a cutting down thread and those that can drink shouldn't be penalised or feel that they are doing something wrong by drinking? Saying that, socially, it doesn't have an impact on my drinking as I'm an 'indoors' drinker. But I think we can all be sensible and even if we aren't, then we've only ourselves to blame, not the people we are with or the situation we are in.DFW Nerd no. 496 - Proud to be dealing with my debts!!0 -
