    I'm back!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

After spending a week drinking daily (a few units not a lot in one go, but even so still too much) and I am feeling worse for it. Think I'd better get back on the AF wagon again and go back to some restful sleep instead of waking up every hour or so.

Have disappeared to heal my wounds for a few months and feel a little more positive these days. Didn't hide my head in a bottle at the time which I was pleased about. Biscuit eating increased on the other hand!

These days I think I'd better come back almost a year since I first found the thread. Drinking less these days than a year ago, so it has helped and worked. Still considering giving up completely, finding it hard to let go completely.

January should give me a nice break at least and need to take it day by day......better go and get some more squash in for the stocks!

I would like to sign up for 31 days AF in Jan - is it Honeybear doing the scoring??

Hope everyone else is ok and if it's been a bumpy ride lets get on a new wagon for Jan with a better suspension and a smoother ride for all of us!

My word, you lot really are chatterboxes!!:rotfl:

Budgie - good to see you around and lovely to hear you had a nice christmas with DS and OH. Sounds like DS really spoiled you!

Fedupski - nice to see you too. And you are sounding a lot more positive.

    :hello:to everyone else!

As much as I would love to join the 365'ers, I just don't think I would manage it right now. I think you're all amazing and inspirational for going for it. I'm going for an AF January to get the weight loss kick-started again

Anyway, best get dressed:eek: Work in a couple of hours!

  • Hope everyone had a great Christmas. I drank Christmas Day, but it just showed me that I have no control over the amount I drink...one turned into two turned into 8 or 9. However I haven't drunk since despite serious temptation so pretty chuffed with myself.

    Bring on 2010.

Just seen the 365 challenge...count me in.

    Great spirit.
It took me many years to realise that one drink was an impossibility to me. It sets off a reaction where I would go to great lengths to get another drink.
I am an alcoholic who cannot drink safely, and thus I don't even have that first drink.
Admitting being an alcoholic was liberating, and that I have no power of alcohol.
Glad you know that alcohol in you is a disaster
  • Morning
Gosh you were all busy yesterday !

Me. Had a couple of stellas last night and am so looking forward to not having a drink tonight. Visitors will all be gone this afternoon. The last 10 days have been alcohol enhanced. Enjoyed myself but have had enough. My skin is dry and itchy, that means a psoriasis flare up. Weather doesn't help, but alcohol is the main cause.

HB, please put me down for 31. I have no idea if I can make the 365 challenge but like many of you say once I stop it's easier. And I'll return to those long restful sleep patterns.

One of my friends had bad psoriasis that has gone away totally now he has been off the drink for a few months.
Amazing that we keep drinking when it harms us in such a myriad of ways

    Morning All,
1st AF day yesterday. Even tho ex was drinking at home all evening, I didn't feel tempted but that's just because I'm sooooo fed up of alcohol at the moment. Danger time is always when i start to think i have control, therefore can control which I can't. Anyhoo, woke up this morning feeling carp but made myself go for a run (have got London Marathon in April ) and that made me feel better even tho it was so wet and cold. At least the marathon gives me something to focus on for a few months.
Have a great day everyone xxx

We need to constantly remind ourselves that we (alcoholics) have no control over drink. I feel I have a forgetting disease and that if I don't hear the same messages again and again, I will pick up a drink thinking it will be different this time.
  • Yummy! Glad you're feeling better Jo! :D

While we keep drinking (even sporadically) it will always have a hold on us.
Remaining AF works for me as I realise I can live my life without alcohol, and have let go
