Morning
Gosh you were all busy yesterday !
Me. Had a couple of stellas last night and am so looking forward to not having a drink tonight. Visitors will all be gone this afternoon. The last 10 days have been alcohol enhanced. Enjoyed myself but have had enough. My skin is dry and itchy, that means a psoriasis flare up. Weather doesn't help, but alcohol is the main cause.
HB, please put me down for 31. I have no idea if I can make the 365 challenge but like many of you say once I stop it's easier. And I'll return to those long restful sleep patterns.DC.

Morning:santa2:
Hope you've all had a great christmas.
Marru I have 17 AFDs to report. Hoping to be AF today, so may squeeze in one more.
HB I will pledge 17 again for January. I will be hoping to achieve much more, however, as the diet starts 2nd of Jan:D and the new exercise regime
Good Luck
ShaggyWhat do we do when we fall? We get up, dust ourselves off and start walking in the right direction again. Perhaps when we fall, it is easy to forget there are people along the way who help us stand and walk with us as we get back on track.0 -
Morning all, 29 for me now please Marru.
I've been spending my AF savings at the online sales, so family all finally equipped for the winter weather. (I can't understand how we got down to one pair of warm gloves between the whole household:o but sorted now.)
I am swithering about the 365 challenge. I think that for me it's better to just keeping going from day to day rather than setting a big target and maybe stressing about it - in fact I'm not quite sure about the monthly target for the same reason. The day to day thing is working well for me (over 7 months AF now) so I reckon I'll just stick with that.
Great to see so much positive thinking for the year ahead. I would love to hear from mrsdee, winebox and others who've not been around for a bit.
:snow_laugBest wishes to all for a successful cutting down/ cutting out New Year!:santa2:0 -
Good morning to everyone and welcome to the newbies.:santa2:
Well done to you all setting your targets.I will joint the 365 days please....and 31 for January;)
My Mum and Dad are in Blackpool for Xmas and New Year and yesterday I managed to get a last minute booking in their hotel for New Years Eve for me and DH.
Its going to be a really big surprise for them as they know nothing about it.Ooooo I love doing surprises.;)
I think this will be another big test for me.It will be my second AF new year but last years was spent quietly at home as I didnt want to take the risk of letting the new year in with a glass:eek:.
Even though it will be a test I know I will be ok really.I can do this now and people do accept it when I say I am teetotal.....even the big drinkers in my family now just accept it, where they used to say....oh go on....one wont hurt!
DD2 told me again yesterday how proud she is of what I am doing even giving up the profiteroles:DLOL
Good luck to you all especially the 365 dayers. This time next year you will all feel as proud as I do today.;)
Have a lovely day

Please may I join you? I found this thread when searching for "cutting-down alcohol" and I've been reading through it for a few days. Getting my nerve up to join in! I am very worried and and anxious about my drinking.
The most I have managed so far is a couple of days off and then back on again. I don't know why I find it so hard to cut down but I do.

Welcome DB
Your post rang a bell as this was me a few months back. I am older than you so it's never too late to start stopping or cutting back. For me it has to be stopping and with the aid of this thread and a complete change in my mental attitude I have now been AF for longer than ever before (and am not planning to start again as I just don't want to).
There are tips on the thread which help like avoiding the situations where you tend to drink, laying in a good supply of soft drinks you enjoy and grabbing one of those when you feel the urge, plenty sweet stuff and so on. I've found other websites useful too - the British Liver Trust, and Bright Eye .0 -

Hi Molly
Have a lovely time at the New Year. It will be a lovely surprise for your parents. I usually wait for the "bells" then phone my mum & dad then go to bed. I LOVE Christmas but not keen on New Year.
Have a good day.

Morning All,
1st AF day yesterday. Even tho ex was drinking at home all evening, I didn't feel tempted but that's just because I'm sooooo fed up of alcohol at the moment. Danger time is always when i start to think i have control, therefore can control which I can't. Anyhoo, woke up this morning feeling carp but made myself go for a run (have got London Marathon in April ) and that made me feel better even tho it was so wet and cold. At least the marathon gives me something to focus on for a few months.
Have a great day everyone xxxDebt as at Feb 14: £2272.40DFW Nerd no. 1024June Overhaul #260
