I think for many people giving up ciggies AND drink at the same time is too much. I waited over a year after giving up the drink before attempting to cut out the ciggies.
So far so good....0 -
Another quick post before I disappear for the day, am not happy at all about this weekend, it's been completely ruined by the impending outlaw trip, we had to go shopping all day yesterday to buy presents for his family and xmas cards, then DD1 spent all evening wrapping them up, now today's normal routine has been completely monopolised by the fact we've gotta be sat at the table for dinner by 1.30pm and they live an hours drive away.
But, on the plus side  two of my items sold on ebay last night, unfortunately the one that's been paid for immediately was the £8.00 one and not the £30.00 one that I'm waiting for them to pay for. I can't understand why someone would click buy it now and then not pay for it immediatelyhoping they're not gonna change their mind? I left it till this morning to send an invoice. So provided they pay up, I made £38.00 on my [STRIKE]old tat [/STRIKE]beautiful items yesterday
Fay, seals are very cute, I used to watch them when I visited Norfolk, if you get down the beach early enough (which wasn't often ), I've heard they can get a bit vicious if you go near them and they have their young with them, dunno if that's true
Right, really must be off, got a full on day
xx
Only you can decide that - don't let something happening tomorrow ruin your day today.0 -
Hey - hope you don't mind a complete newbie joining - no signature, no idea what I'm doing but really need to address the amount I drink and the cost to me in both terms of cash spent and wellbeing. I am very fortunate that I'm not in debt but soon will be if I don't stop the current consumption. Have decided to go for 3 days out of seven Sunday to Sunday (not set days as work shifts as does SO) as alcohol free - not even sherry trifle! Is this do-able do you think? Any advice would be appreciated and promise to find my way round the site quickly and work out all the gizmo's etc - I feel so plain!!

Welcome - for some people they go AF (alcohol free). That works for them as long as they don't pick up again
Others cut down - by sticking to AF days in a week or month they try to reach a target. However, they are mindful not to 'make up for it' on drinking nights and over-consume
Perhaps you should try being AF for a few days a week, and on the days you do drink, stick to recommended guidlines:The Department of Health advises that men should not drink more than three to four units of alcohol per day, and women should drink no more than two to three units of alcohol per day.
One unit of alcohol is equivalent to 10ml of pure alcohol. As a rough guide:
1 pint of strong lager = 3 units
1 pint of ordinary lager, bitter or cider, 175ml glass of wine = 2 units
1 alcopop = 1.5 units
1 measure of spirits = 1 unit
Many wines are around 11 or 12 per cent alcohol, so a small glass = 1.5 units
So when you do drink, drink no more than a couple of pints or glasses of wine .
Good luck0 -

I don't think it says that Paracetamol causes more deaths from liver cirrhosis than alcohol if I read it correctly.....
