The giving up/cutting down alcohol support thread! Part 5

  • Well Friday night came and I had my wine as I'd promised myself. It made me grumpy by bedtime and I felt absolutely awful all day on Saturday. My headache from hell came back and brought his mates. I was in bed by 9.30pm on Saturday (not good in our house). So again, I'm weighing it up and realising that the good doesn't stack up against the bad.

So AF on Saturday night (I had some lovely Rochester Dark Ginger AF Wine), and AF on Saturday night much as it was calling to me when X Factor came on. Instead I drank Thorncroft Detox Cordial with tonic water which was lovely (and looks like beer!).

The result - I feel bloomin great this morning. Can't believe how energised and happy not drinking makes me feel! I feel like a normal human being. Wine makes me happy for about two hours, going AF makes me feel happy all day.

Normally I stagger round the kitchen making breakfast thinking its just tiredness, but its not, its hangover lol! The strangest thing of all since coming on this thread is how well I am sleeping. Normally if I've not had a drink I'd take ages to drop off, but lately I am asleep in minutes and stay asleep til the alarm goes off.

Another thought before I stop waffling ... I wonder how Christmas will affect us all.

I know how you mean about getting breakfast with a hangover CA - we blame lack of sleep but it's really a hangover and we're only kidding ourselves.

Have caught up on the weekend postings - BB I hope your back is getting better and Fedup that your heart is slowly mending.
Jo, can you hand wash a few items to tide you over until you have more liquid cash? it's a bit time consuming but good exercise and helps with 'bingo wings'!

I'm feeling totally carp today but because my cold seems to have got worse - feeling shivery and then too hot and aching. Am going to stay at home all day and keep warm.
My Weekend was a bit of a triumph. I went out twice, came back pretty much sober (saturday I drove so one glass, sunday I had a couple) was to bed at a reasonable hour and so didn't waste any of the days by being hungover - still had nasty cold but no hangover to compound.

Now I'm looking forward to another AF week, getting well and feeling marvellous.

    off to get another lemsip,
    Trying to keep in budget.

One of the many joys of being AF - not being hungover at all, and having real energy . This is what normal life is like
  • :hello::hello: Hi Everybody!!

What a week I had last week with the 16th and 18th birthdays, cake-making, celebrations and then family get-together here yesterday. I've taken a day's holiday today, which is lovely, house is soooo silent. Everybody was remarking how much weight I've lost (I wasn't exactly overweight before!!) but this is due to a) no longer working from home and b) drinking much less wine.

I've had a few glasses of wine this weekend with the celebrations, but I was very careful, and there have been no hangovers and I have not been drunk.

So onwards in the AF quest.

Lovely to see Budgie posting again with her long posts. Don't worry about those nasties on the other thread, Budgie, there are some very strange people around, who do not understand when people are trying to help others. Do carry on posting here, we miss you when you are busy and not around!!!

Congratulations to Jo, you are a shining example and inspiring me.

Great to hear from you again 40SM, hope things are calming down for you. It is so, so difficult when children are small and omnipresent and always around. At least I get lots of lovely time to myself now my 3 DDs are all teenagers. Even if they do sometimes cause me huge worry when they refuse to answer their phones!!

Must get on. I'm going to try to clean a couple of carpets today - I certainly know how to enjoy myself!!

    Bi for now

  • Hugs to all that I haven't had time to mention but hope your weekend was better than mine? Btw does anyone know much about Bingo Britain? I have come across it on other threads

    God Bless
    Budgie xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

    Hi Budgie,

Yes I have joined Bing0 Britain . Deposit £5 then play it through. Then every day for 30 days they will give you a bonus of £5 to play with. The minimum withdrawal is £20 so if you you win £10, deposit £10 and immediately withdraw £20. !!

Both my DH and I joined at the beginning of November and we are now £95 in profit ( we win something most days usually only £5 but hey:T). This will certainly help pay for the puppy.

Good to hear from you Budgie. We all miss you when you are not around.

    Have a good day
