  • Hi Guys,

    I really need your help.

As you know I only ever really post on this thread apart from 2 other posts that I have made on another thread. One being tonight.

I came across a post from someone whose partner had fell off the wagon after 7 months of being af.

I posted what I thought was a message of support, informing her of our thread where we have recovering alcoholics etc.

I only meant for her to have some support but apparently a couple of posters have reported my post to the abuse team

I really really don't know what to do. You all know me on here and know that I would never ever intentionaly upset someone.

I really don't think I can carry on posting now :o

    I feel so upset.

Oh heavens, what can I do?

    Please help

    Dear all

i have been lurking on this thread for aaageess! Since about Jan and I have found you all to be an inspiration and I can understand where a number of you are coming from.
I want to cut down but have never posted coz I shilly-shally and I kid myself but over the last couple of days two things have happened to make me want to post!
    1) Jo's post - I have read from afar and I found your post of the other day uplifting and hopeful - sorry you had to go there but things are looking up
    2) Budget babe (hence quote) the people who have reported abuse have obviously never read this thread! They have no right to make these comments and hence my post ! BB you are lovely!

    take care

  • Thanks BB for the welcome!
as I said before I have been lurking for a long time therefore if I seem a bit familar I apologise it's just i feel I know you!
So as an introduction- I'm female (confusion happens :D), brunette (usually but trips to the hairdresser usually changes that) and altho' in deepest, darkest Wiltshire I am most definitely Scottish (in fact was an undergrad at Dundee and remember the chippies very well! - that post was about 5 months ago!:rotfl:)
Anyway as previously stated I want to cut down from the bottle of wine per night habit I have! (or cider if I'm in the pub).

Worst thing is I log on to this site near bed time when I am more likely to have a drink therefore change in mind set & habit has to happen!

    take care xx
    and thanks for reading
  • DizzyDuck, I too lurked before posting but it was the best thing that I have done. The people on here are so friendly and supportive.

We all know about the bottle of wine a night, but it is possible to cut down. Sometimes its just a habit that we have gotten into, sometimes though as we know it is much more serious.

Just try and aim for a few af days to start with. Thankyou for letting us know you are female as you have lurked for so long you will know there were doubts cast on some members ;) (In a nice way of course).

So good luck and take care, I am off to bed now along with my dodgy back. Just hope it gets better?

One thing I have learnt tonight is to double think what I do?

Please do keep posting now you have made your first step. Hugs sweetheart (()) Budgie xxxxxxxxxx

Welcome dizzyduck. You will certainly feel at home here as we have many virtual friends who were 'bottle of wine a night' plus from Wiltshire and Scottish. We also have many females but some lovely men. Keep lurking and maybe you'll soon feel you want to have a few AF (Alcohol Free but I'm sure you know that) days and perhaps set yourself a target. Great people on this thread, they're the best!
  • Budgie

I hope your back is better when you read this - I tweaked my back a couple of years ago and can sympathise(sp?).
I went to the Hospital and the advice I received was " Ibroprofen for the pain and hang off the tops of doors to stretch the back" .
I kid you not - it took a week to right itself and I couldn't hang for various reasons.
Anyway - I hope tonight won't stop you posting on other threads but always remember you are needed here!

    take care xx
  • Hi Fay & maman

it's great to finally post and I do my own "unofficial" AFD per month but as it's only me I usually wiggle (IFKWIM) therefore I don't set a target and then have a drink anyway but I haven't failed !

I'm not Dundonian but a Portonian (gold star if you suss that out!) but was in Bonnie Dundee for 6 years and am supposedly a botanist (not willows!)

    xx
  • Hi Dizzy & welcome

LOL I bet its odd actually `speaking` to us rather than just reading !!

I was in Dundee a year or so ago....all I remember is a large wooden boat on the river & a penguin :confused::confused: no I was`nt drunk in case anyone is wondering...just one of those `flying visit` places :D...it was nice though...I think:o:o. Oh dear I`ll never make it as a tour guide.

Good luck with your first AFD ....believe me you will feel so great the next day! :j:j
