I kept trying to stop using the same method (will power!!) and that didn't work for me. I reached out for help to try something else, and I was given a solution.
Only you can help yourself. Do yourself a favour and try other avenues.
If you don't go to any lengths to stop, then you still have some more drinking and probably misery left in you.
Good luck - admitting alcoholism is a hard and brave step to take
Thank you, I am slowly realising that I need to get more proffesional help aswell. But its scary I will admit that.

I've been reading 'No big deal- A Guide to Recovery from addictions' by John Coates. Something Mari and GC said reminded me of something in there.
Trying to paraphrase here as i'm in a rush but.....Willpower is not enough to fight an addiction, just like willpower wasn't enough for king canute to turn back the tides. Alcohol is more powerful than me, I can't control it or my consumption, so the only thing I can do is stay away from it.
Apologies if I'm becoming evangelical:o
Today I won't be drinking. Instead I'll be taking my dog for a nice long walk and meeting a friend for coffee and cake...yum.LBM 10/08 £12510.74/0 -
I meant to spend ten minutes catching up before I started work and have spent 30 instead, lucky the boss isn't in today;)
Thank you so much everyone for your honesty and wisdom especially biglass, mari and paybacktime. I have been reading the last few pages of posts with tears in my eyes.
I love this thread. As fay said, I would never consider having an AF day before I found it and now it is becoming the norm to have at least 3 a week :A

Have caught up with some of the posts today, but not all, really great to read such a lot of inspirational posts, I just love this thread x
In a rush today so just to say I am on 6 days af please GG....
I wasn't af last night, so didn't manage the challenge (although I did do 72hrs from Sun-Tues so thats something ) had been to a M&S event and there was a free glass of wine which I unfortunately had and then that led to more as I bought a bottle home, I didn't have shed loads though so don't feel too bad today
Will be af tonight as i have a blood test in the morning and need to fast after 10pm which will stop me having a drink, also have lots to do tomorrow before we are away in the evening....
Have a great day all, I may not be back on now til Sunday/Monday but will be thinking of you all on your journeys....

it is dismal ere - wet, grey, cold and I feel pretty dismal too:
I'm starting ANOTHER cold and this morning a second cold sore had popped up on my upper lip. So pretty poo-ey all in all but Alcohol free at least.
I shan't be drinking today.
Dreamonsu, I like the Name Ursula - it's mysteriously scandanavian.Trying to keep in budget.

Anyhooo, interesting programme on tonight:
Brought up by Booze: A Children in Need Special
Wednesday 11 November
Just watched this whilst having a rest
woking from home is soo tireing!
Not sure what to make of it really, there were lots of thought provoking isues and some bits that made me think oh thank god I've never got that far, but if I don't sort this now I easily could. I did think tho it was a shame there was so much focus on Callum Best and I really didn't like the fact that they ended with him in a pub with a pint. But perhaps thats just me
Off to do some 'work' now...must stop the work avoidence
