Hello to you too and welcome back, I've recently returned after a leave of absence and am taking the each day approach, but have also set a 'wish' goal for the month at the moment its working and I feel great, so much better than my bottle a night plus. Im trying hard to keep reminding myself how bad I felt each morning, middle of the night, when the kids reminded me of something they'd told me when drunk etc and how awful it is.
    (sorry for ramble!!)

So, good luck I'll be looking out for you :D

Morning all - 5 please GG!
Thank you to all of you who have congratulated me on my promotion - I really appreciate it and really wouldnt have got to this point if it hadnt been for the amazing support and wisdom and optimism of those on this thread.
Interestingly, as promotion comes with greater responsibilities and I certainly dont want to come a cropper (whatever that means!), it's an even greater incentive to stay AF! I would hate to let myself (and the company) down after coming this far...
Thanks all and have a lovely day.

Morning everyone, am dragging my sorry self back into the forum

GG Just 1 AFD to report so far this month :embarasse

Welcome to the newbies, this is a very inspirational and supportive thread, you're in the right place :T

    Have a good weekend all
  • Evening,

    - Seeing folks like Jo and Fay, who like me have been pretty much long-term habitual daily drinkers and are moving towards AF-ness and turning in the numbers every day - respect! :T

What a lovely thing to say - unfortuneately for me I managed to go out at 9.45 after a blazing row with my EX hubby on the phone and buy and consume one whole bottle of wine in about 30 minutes.

Skulks in........even though I texted poor Jo early to stave off some bells........last night turned into a disaster. (well not a disaster but you know what I mean)

I was raging angry, tired, hungry and I knew what I was doing was stupid - I just somehow needed to shut off my head. Bad meeting at work in the afternoon - all excuses but my head was fit to burst - I know these are triggers - I know I should have taken texted some very understanding chums :A (you know who you are!!) could have taken my shoes off and stayed at home - but I didn't

Kitchen was full of fish finger sandwich making debris - from my 'midnight feast' and I was really tired this morning.

What a pilchard I really am, life's not any different today - but I know I need to try harder.

Sorry to share but just wanted to tell myself I need to really work hard on those triggers.

So GG 4 for me today - :o thanks for your lovely words.

Welcome to CA any other newbies who might still be lurking and all the returners.
GG I totally agree about how inspirational some of the posters are :T

ONE MORE FOR ME PLEASE that's 4 now :D

I shan't be AF today because my OH and I are going to see Fleetwood Mac at Wembley tonight (Woo Hoo!) and we'll certainly have a drink. But that's ok my plan is to be AF Mon - Thurs every week and any other AF days I manage will be a bonus.
    Have a good day all.

Oh Fay, my heart goes out to you as I have done that myself many many times. That's the craziness of the hold that alcohol has over us and we think it will make things better. Funnily enough, I remember years ago when I was trying to give up smoking, I had a blazing row with my then OH one night and thought, right, that's it!! I'll show him - I'm going to go and get some cigarettes and smoke them. So I did and sat there and smoked them ALL (along with a bottle or more of wine, no doubt) and then next day I thought What AM I doing? Someone upsets me and I pay them back by trying to hasten my early death?!!"
    I did laugh (eventually)....
Fear not, today is another day - a lovely one for you I hope. Look forward.

Hi Cat Addict and welcome  and yes the 69 bit is the year of my birth, which means this was a big birthday year for me :D have you had yours yet? You will find lots of support and encouragement on here when you need it so good luck x

I feel rotten today after my wine last night, not only for that but for the mountain of dry roasted peanuts I consumed with it :o

gien welcome back to the fold x

dreamonsu I saw Fleetwood Mac many years ago, they were great and I still love their music, if I hear one of there tracks I get quite nostalgic!! Hope you have a great time x

Fay hun, we have all been there and I know exactly what you mean by wanting to 'switch off your head' that is how I felt last night, but not due to a row, just due to the 'kid noise' that takes place between 4-7pm every day!! and also all the stuff that seems to need doing at the moment....and make sure you do text those chums tonight if the bells are clanging loudly x

Mari good luck at your family meal x

Catch you all later, gotta go get my terrible twins :D
