  • Hi

Feeling quite low tonight, terrible headache, and generally tired and a little miserable. I dont seem to be on my own though, as a few of you are struggling today.

No desire to break my challenge, just lacking in energy:confused: and happy thoughts. How about a shiny star Fay that will keep me going. Day 7 AF for October and day 22/100 of my challenge.

Oddly enough - (this is beginning to get a bit freaky) so was I - MP is right you know..........

It got easier in May when it was completely give up - than my random caving in at the moment

GC, Molly, Bis, E and so on etc all say its easier after a bit - just wonder how long a 'bit' is?

Well, I only think it is easier if you change yourself. I drink because I find a lot of life a problem. I cannot change other people, places and things. So I can only change myself. I have changed the way I act and react. Thus I no longer have the desire to drink. I have surrendered to my powerlessness over alcohol, and admit 100% my alcoholism. When you do that, it gets easier to change oneself.

Just stopping the drinking without changing yourself is very hard, and was impossible for me. I see lots of misery on this thread as people cannot drink. If you change yourselves, you may not WANT to drink at all.
    That's when it gets easier.
The way some people are approaching this will lead to unhappiness and eventually a progression of their alcoholism. This in turn could be lost jobs, families, homes, and maybe lives.
However, I know that people will only change when they are ready and have hit a rock bottom, so for some people they will continue to struggle for a long time. That's heartbreaking to watch, but that's alcoholism for you!!

And..........................we should think of the savings, etc, health, happy bunnies etc.

    ?

It never worked for me. I knew I shouldn't drink (for all those reasons) but it didn't stop me. That's my alcoholism. I knew I should not drink, and didn't want to , but still drank anyway. Thus feelings of despair, self-loathing etc

That is classic addiction. Knowing you shouldn't do it rationally, but doing it anyway.

I also think the same thing, funny we had pretty much the same amount of abstinence at the same time (well you did considerably better than me, but you know what I mean ;)). I think I remember our conversations back then, you counting the willow and me sitting in the back garden discussing 'when is it gonna get any easier?' that was 'for me' 21 days into my abstinence and it didn't feel any easier

If I didn't change myself, the longer the period without alcohol, the harder it would be.
