Okay so here's my first question...

Do you tell people that you are quitting/giving up? I'm really worried that people will be odd with me when I tell them I'm not drinking :( I know I shouldn't care but you can't help it sometimes! My workmates are very alcohol/pub centered people unfortunately!

I still find it hard to be honest - used just about every excuse in the book (for not drinking) then came clean and told a few chums - some are supportive, some are negative and some see it as some sort of personal insult - (I think they feel as if my drinking justifies their drinking - am beginning to see that in a few pals).

On the whole folks who I have told have been lovely and supportive - goodluck - :o you'll do great - the ones who supprot you are your real chums

Thanks fay :) yeah I know who my real friends are I guess. It's weird isn't it that drinking is such a big part of our lives that you actually feel victimised by not drinking

I'll have to be ready with a few sarky comments to shut them up i think :D I'm also planning on having lots of excuses to leave work early on Fridays to stop me from going the pub hehe plus leaving work early is a bonus!!

Right I'm off to finish watching Flashforward with a hot choccy :) night all xx

:hello: *sigh* *feels sheepish* *baaaaah* may I creep back into the fold please?.............:o
  • I'm thinking of changing my amount saved per AFD to £4, as I've just thought I don't always get through a whole bottle of wine an evening. It depends if OH drinks it with me (he wouldn't bother if I didn't buy it). Sometimes a bottle can last 2 nights, other times we polish it off in an hour. But then I suppose sometimes I can go to the pub and buy 2 drinks there and it'd be more than a fiver.

I'm not technically saving the money I don't spend on alcohol as I'm trying to pay off my overdraft and not draw any money out at all.
