    Thanks BHB & Mrs BHB.

It is hard isn't it ? I think your little boy is of a similar age to mine ( DS1 is 9). He is a lovely little boy but worries about everything and can be quite difficult to control when he " goes off on one". I worry about him getting older.

Thank you all for your kind wishes. I think my body is now telling me that I need to slow down a bit.

    Hello
I was just browsing the threads and I came across this one. I have only read the most recent few pages but your post caught my eye. I sometimes drink too much when I'm stressed and one of the big reasons for being stressed in my life is my beautiful 20 year old autistic son.

40SM and Mr + Mrs BHB I wish I could say it gets easier, it doesn't and you will never stop worrying about your sons. The problems will change over the years though; some difficulties will disappear to be replaced by other difficulties. You will cope though, I have met many families affected by Autism and what I can say is that we are a strong and resiliant bunch. You do need support though, if you haven't already, do contact the National Autistic Society to see whether there is a local branch.
Drinking to excess really isn't the answer (although in my case it's "do as I say rather than as I do" as I do drink far too much:o) you need all your strength to deal with your boys and you have to stay healthy because they will depend on you all your lives.
    Good Luck.

I see it is a group alcohol free day today so I would like if I may to join in and pledge not to drink (whatever the provokation!). Not sure how many alcohol free days I can manage this month but I can certainly abstain every Monday if that's how it works.

Thank you all for the warm welcome! I am going to have a read through the thread from the start now.
I would love to join any goals/challenges.
My goals for this week with the alcohol:
Last Weeks spend on alcohol: £30 - 7 bottles of wine, a bottle each night (some shared with OH, some not)
This weeks aim: £5 - this will be spent on Friday on 2 bottles for £5 at local londis special offer. This will be spread over Friday, Saturday and Sunday, saving £25 from last weeks spending.
It means I will have alcohol free from Monday-Friday - something that I haven't done for a long time - probably a year. Often I go a day, but never the full mid week.
It's all been since the debt issues started tho - before that, I hardly drank at all - infact, I remember going 6 months regularly without one. But now, as others I am sure, I convince myself it numbs it all, but the reality of it is, it doesn;t and I feel worse for it.

This is a fast moving thread!!

Thakjs for the advice, I have been AF so far this month, but to be honest I've not had any 'tests' yet - I am probably meeting a friend soon who I always drink heavily with, so I'll see how it goes!

I am aiming for 25 AF Days this month, which I think should be do-able

Well thats the first bit of temptation out of the way. Went to Tesco...,picked up crisps and sparkling water!! Hooray.......that in itself is an achievement for me. So there is no alcohol in the house and I am not going out again.
Hope everyone manages okay tonight that want to stay AF.

    Hugs

    xx

 AHem there are NO failures on this thread - you're down for 10 days AF which means for 21 days this month you've allowed yourself to drink - so at some point gather some stars but there are NO FAILURES here hunny - its a slow process and baby steps

Be nice to yourself its not about failing:o

Sorry - just wanted to make you feel OK xx When it gets later in the month then I will be kicking butt!!:rotfl:xxxxxxxx
Thanks Fay, you're right I guess, I just think I set my target too low and should be trying to achieve more! But that's the target I've set and I'll stick to it this month and see how I go. 10 days this month will be a lot more than I've managed in the last couple of years.

My problem now this evening is that there's half a bottle of wine left from last night. It's sat right in front of me staring at me, and half of my brain is saying "DON'T DO IT!!!!" and the other half is saying "You've already spent the money, why waste it by throwing it away", and if I leave it where it is I'll only end up having it tomorrow instead...

I suppose if my OH haves a glass I'll only really get one out of it. Plus I have managed to have a NSD today instead. :)

Gonna go catch up and read back a few pages!

  • Waves to all - hello new faces :) well done on posting and enjoy the thread - it does move fast believe me I am TRYING to keep up with it all

Gromit well done on attacking the supermarket :)

Honeybear come on we can do it _ (YES WE CAN!!) love the money in a cocktail shaker

scbye given what you've said that would work out at 20 days for October do you want to try that? and you're average spend is about £4.30 a day

suweb5 welcome aboard our AF Monday :)

toby3000 I will put you down for25 days and well done on the 4 AFD's already do you want to add in your average spend figure and I can save that for you if you like (virtually not in real life :)) and I see you are trying to make £5 a day - if you saved the AF money I bet that would help towards that !! Anyway here's your first 4 stars ****

Total debt 26/4/18 <£1925 we were getting there.
Total debt as of 28/4/19 £7867.38:eek:
    minus 112.06 = £7755.32:money:
