I agree with you CBM about kids living away from home bringing new things to worry about. DS moved out 2½ years ago and I have to look after his bank account for him to make sure he puts money away for bills. I just leave him enough in his current account to live on during the week and put the rest away. He doesn't trust himself!! Hopefully someday a nice young woman will take this job away from me when he finally settles down (he's 24). I'm also hoping some nice young man will take DD off my hands but no sign of it yet! I think I have two permanent singletons on my hands! Thinking of advertising them on a dating site!

  • Hi

I'm having a well earned day off today. Yesterday I spent the day working in London which involes a 3 hour train journey each way so inevitably I spent money on coffees, newspaper & puzzle book. I'm hoping that my days subsistence allowance will cover all this and maybe an itsy bit of profit but I won't get it back until next month.

I've spent the morning cleaning and finishing OH's tax return to get in on Friday. We always leave it until the last minute but I've just finished so as a reward I've come to MSE.

Reading the posts from CBM & SA I feel much better about DD sounds like she's not unusual. Her Dad however will probably leave home if he thinks she's going to be the same when she's in her 20's hehe.

I'm going to make some soup in a minute with the tired looking veg in the fridge. I might even make a pizza for supper! That plan could change if I get sidetracked.

I haven't spent any money today but have to do a small bit of shopping later.

  • Tax return  How long do they take?
I hope the cooking went well. What do you top your pizzas with? I went to a friend's once who had done a spinachy type thing on the pizza. It looked a little odd (green not red) but was really yummy.

  • Tax return didn't take too long had already done a bit of the spadework.

I make fairly plain marguerita pizzas with loads of olives but add mushrooms or courgettes or whatever I have in the bittom of the fridge. I'm not too keen on spinach even though I'm a veggie.

I've had a great day today shopping with DD. She bought herself a lovely dress and cardi for halloween - black with sequins she looked gorgeous. I treated her to a cheap pair of shoes.

I bought a couple of tops for work. They were reduced - naturally!! We didn't have lunch but a late breakfast coffee & croissants so much cheaper. Although it wasn't a money saving day I didn't spend more than I had planned and was controlled. Definitely no credit card.

Called into Tesco about 7 p.m. and bought some good reductions so I'm well pleased with myself.

  • Hi PBH
Sounds like you had a nice day with DD, hope she enjoys her night out with all her new clothes.

How are your NSDs doing? I haven't done them for a while but might need to as I think that I wasted about £20 last month on bits and pieces that I fancied when walking past shops. Its easy to work out as I only spend cash in town, and can't work out why my purse is completely empty so it must be the bars of chocolate/little treats for tea etc - at £20 I had more than I thought!

    Cheers

  • Hi CBM

I need to do as many NSD's as possible this month starting with today!!

Like you I have been popping into shops a bit too much lately and I only cary cash so notice how it goes.

I am going to the bank tomorrow to get my cash for the week and hope to have quite a bit left.

I have to go to Leeds Weds/Thurs for work and it's too easy to spend on non essentials when travelling - drinks, snacks, papers etc. Must be very organised and take some cereal bars & fruit with me and a supply of books puzzles etc.

Because I am away for a couple of days I am going to aim for 3 NSD's this week.

I have some food in but need to buy fruit, veg, milk and pet food which I will do after work tomorrow then NSD Tues, Fri and Sunday. My week starts on Monday. I will PAD everyday that I am at home.

I am working extra hours which I am getting paid for which makes a change.

I am going to try and find something for ebay today.

    How's everyone else getting on?

    Hi PBH

Glad to hear you're doing well. I sorted out a load of stuff at the weekend to ebay just need to get around to the listing it bit. I had a NSD yesterday, would love to have more but tend to spread out my shopping over the course of the week. I was a bit naughty today and slipped out of work to pick up my boots from the cobblers and ended up buying a handbag on the way there! It was only £16 from TK Maxx though so not too much damage done but OH will say "not another bag" and make me feel guilty about it. It is lovely though! On the plus side I've managed to accumulate £19 so far by PAD-ing. I'm going to put this in the bank and use it to go towards this months debt repayment. Hopefully there will be more to add to it by next payday!

  • Hi PBH
Extra hours - paid - lovely jubbly. I find the combination of extra money, working so therefore less shopping time and being permanently knackered keeps me out of the shops!!
How long will you have the hours for - or is it just a one-off?

:naughty: don't forget to take supplies on your trips!!!! :rotfl:

  • Hi

I'm back!! Just as I thought these trips always cost me money! 2 or 3 cups of tea during the day cost about £5 and I finished my book on the way there and had to buy another one for the return journey. Never mind my presentation went down well and I enjoyed having a double bed all to myself which I stayed in as long as I could.

SA - Men don't get the handbag/shoe thing do they?

CBM - extra hours wont last long but better than nothing. I will use the money to PAD when I get paid.

    Had a NSD today.

My daughter lost her purse sometime during her night out on Saturday and it had in it her bus pass, bank card, driving licence, £40 and other bits!!!!! We cancelled the cards but all week she has been "borrowing" money. How can you love someone so much when they drive you completely and absolutely nuts?!?!
