  • Oh My = Poorbuthappy55 is now officially 56!!!!!!!!!

I'm sticking with my campaign - doing Payment a Day even if only a few coins in my jar.

Had my birthday dinner with friends last night and had drinks & nibbles at home before we went out and caught the bus home - saved money on taxi and didn't need a starter.

Shopping does NOT feature in my life now. Going for walks by the sea instead, very therapeutic.

I am turning the corner at last.

Happy Birthday :) I love going for walks - free, amazingly relaxing and healthy. I am lucky enough to live near some beautiful hills, so great walking.

  • Whoopee!!!!!

My first NSD for ages. So busy at work didn't have time to go out and went straight home to sort out a paperwork backlog.

Very lazy tonight - poached eggs for tea.

  • Hi PBH

Walks by the sea - you lucky lucky thing! I find it really uplifting to go and spend time at the coast - I'd trade that for a shopping trip anything.

Poached eggs on toast sounds like a really good idea for tea... its been ages since I've had them. Although I did have a large lunch so may skip tea altogether.

Well done on the NSD. I popped to the shops to get some wrapping paper for my son's (21st) birthday - I was in an unfamiliar town and couldn't be bothered to shop around so bought two sheets at 50p per sheet! What a rip off!

    Have a good evening

    happy belated birthday.
I agree with all CBM said, just to add one of the things i did which made me think duh! i've been so stupid, is with my current account.
I used to transfer all the money for the bills accross to the bills account the day after payday which would take me almost to my overdraft limit, and this ended up costing me £12-£15 in interest each month. I sat down and worked out when the DD's actually came out of the account and split the transfer into 4 which i spaced out weekly, this meant i didn't get close to the limit to the day before pay day and my interest came down to £5 each month. By just looking at the same information from a different angle i saved myself almost £10 a month in interest. I felt like such a fool, all that money i'd wasted on interest just because one transfer made my life easier.
I'm not sure this is of interest to you but you can see it's the small changes which will really clock up the differences and help you reach your goal
  • Hi I've just done a really long rambling post and lost it so here's the potted version.

    NSD again today

Thanks for support and tips. I did a really long reply but logged myself out and lost it and now I am going for my bath.

    See you tomorrow xxxx

  • Hi CBM

    I am feeling good today!

I have given my friend a present I received for my birthday last week. It was very nice but I could live without it so saved myself about £15 - also recycled prezzie bag and paper. I did buy a new card but spent less than a pound.

I have taken lunch to work everyday and haven't bought a single coffee.

I really feel in control and it has been really hard adapting to living within my means. This doesn't mean I am not enjoying life just in a different way.

We are having veggie chilli and couscous tonight which doesn't cost much bit is yummy.

    How are you getting along?
