Can only watch itv and bbc1...

Hi
Over the past 2 years I have been watching the free channels with my sky box and card.
From about 2 weeks ago, i can only watch bbc1 and itv free programmes..
I cant watch bbc2, channel 4, channel 5 and most important c-beebies.

Does anyone know what the problem could be?
The signal strength and quality is around the 3/4 mark...

Many Thanks
paul

Odd. You don't even need a card to watch any of those channels.
Have you tried removing it to see if that makes any difference?
  • Yes, thats what i`m saying. I could watch all the free channels before, ie, c-beebies, bbc 2, channel4, etc.
Now we can only watch itv channels and bbc1

  • Have you powered the box off/on? Failing that you could try a force update.

Have you now lost all channels and are you still showing some signal strength?

It could be, even although you've got good signal strength, that the dish has slightly misaligned.

But at least you still get the Beeb! That's where all the good programming is!
I have enough money to last me the rest of my life, unless I buy something.

Got bbc1 and itv programmes back, but no others...

signal strenth is about on 80%, and
    signal quality is about 75%

I will try and slightly move the dish tomorrow, fingers crossed.
  • It could also be a problem with the LNB on the dish.

If you look at this page, are the channels you've lost within the same group?

If you have a Grundig or Thomson Sky Digibox, this could be the usual Power Supply fault.
Otherwise, it could be caused by water in the coaxial cable or a damaged cable.

    I don't know why BBC2/CBeebies have gone - they don't require a card.

Channel4/Five and some ITV regions are encrypted, but are free to view.

Unless you've received a new style card (it's white and not blue), you will eventually start to lose the channels - this will happen at different times for different people in different areas.

If you're a sky subscriber they'll mail you a new card. If you're not, I don't know how you'd get hold of one.

I suspect there's a problem with either your dish or your digibox. Maybe buy a freesat box instead (no encryption, but cBeebies works just fine!), or grab a sky box off ebay?
