Everyone whos had a mobiles.co.uk complaint

My problems are still unresolved, and ive now been left in an 18 month contract paying LOTS more than i intended!

Customer services are unable to help
Returns are unable to help
Company Reps are unable to help
Supervisors are so far unable to help

and just generally, the entire company seems to be a very large scam, and very untrustworthy

If you're lucky enough to simply buy a phone, with no extras involved, and its what you want... you might be lucky - but if theres anything else, from cashback to just needing to contact customer services for assitance - stay well away!

Anyway - my reason for posting the thread....

How many people have had to resort to trading standards / ofcom to resolve their problems with mobiles.co.uk?

It loooks like thats the route im going to have to go down, so if anyone can provide any advice on the process would be brilliant.

Am i better off leaving the contract run while im taking the action or should i cancel the contract and refer orange straight back to mobiles.co.uk when they come chasing?

Thanks for any help :)

You have to pick up the phone and dial trading standards, they advice you from that point onwards. You can call them or email through their site (I think) http://www.consumerdirect.gov.uk/

Give them all the information (best to do it via email or letter initially) and good luck.

Chris - was not your problem resolved though or at least it was the price match business, whereby you actually ended up with a cheaper deal than you thought?

PS - Just refreshed me memory - Chris is trying to return the phone still then.....

Debateable - basically they said if i used price match id get near enough the same deal - main difference being, the other company i had the money come off the bill - so id pay £35

mobiles.co.uk, id pay £45, then claim the difference back 3 months later

more problems have occurred since then though - they phoned me to agree compensation and that i was ok with the cashback - so i said yep... compensation will be ok - i was promised an email detailing how the cashback system works, along with physical and email addresses for the cashback claims - and the compensation cheque would be raised "today"

a week later, no email with cashback info - more to the point no email confirming anything

I also have no cheque. (they are now saying 28 days...!)

so, as they failed to do any of what they promised i have again requested it just be cancelled and they deal with orange to cancel the contract and refund me what its cost me so far - as far as im concerned, this could have been cancelled and returned within the 14 days - infact, i shouldnt have been sent it at all

If they could resolve the problem id go with it (i want to use my phone! - so far its switched off, doing nothing - unused - im paying £45 for a contract im not using!!) - but they cant... to solve a problem seems to create a new problem, every single time. I cant be bothered with it anymore - im not getting anywhere and i cant afford to be spending an extra £50 a month on nothing!

Thanks... ill give them a ring tomorrow and see what they suggest, got copies of everything saved so shouldnt have any problems getting them all the info :)

On the one hand I would side with mobiles co uk due to the fact that you are chopping and changing your mind.

On the other hand the problem originally arose due to their web site having "a web page" which promised a price match, that price match page apparently should not have existed. Purely on the basis of the price match promise web page and subsequent hassle, you have a right to cancel even after this period of time.

I suggest you type up everything and just contact the people at consumer direct and follow their advice from now on.

I think in these cases it better to not cancel any contract with the phone networks

Why do you say that Tyler ?
I was in a similar situation in so far as I couldn't get returns details from mobiles.co.uk and so sent it back and cancelled the contract with O2.
They were very helpfull in it all and even followed it up afterwards ;)
It's not just about the money

Just to clarify (as i disagree with the comment) - i'm not just simply changing my mind for no reason

The supervisor phone call was made, and they said we cant do the price match and pay you automatically, but we will offer you a month and a half line rental as compensation - they advised that in regards to the cashback, they would send me an email straight away stating when the cashback claims needed to be made and provide me with the physical address and email address for the bills to be sent to for the claims.

If the cheque was raised and dispatched "today" as they mentioned, and i had the email confirming the cashback info i would have probably started using the phone straight away

Unfortunately, i had my doubts that they would actually do what they said they would, so i thought id leave the phone unused until the cheque was received and the cashback info was also received (i currently have no information ref the cashback, i didnt even know i had it!)

Obviously, with the above in mind - the agreed compensation is no longer sufficient - i've gone another month without using the phone - its cost me £45... and its unused, due to them dragging this out!

will i receive the cheque? maybe
will i receive the cashback info? probably not, but if i do... it'll probably be after the first one should have been claimed at least

    So far its cost me:

    £47 month contract x 2
    £7 or £8 unknown charge
    £17.99 unknown charge
over £50 of calls on my other phone being on hold to mobiles.co.uk

so in 2 months its cost me £150+ and i havnt used it yet, not to mention the cost of my existing contract which ive had to continue paying while this gets resolved..!

I was hoping for a £35 a month contract, with no hassle
