Tesco Disabled Bays

Why is it that Tesco is the only supermarket not to uphold the disabled parking bays for blue badge holders only?

Morrisons, Asda and Sainsburys all have boards up regarding the penalty for anyone parking in a disabled bay without a blue badge.

Tesco flatly refuse. I have mentioned it to Tesco many many times but they will not do anything about it.

  • It could be because as has been explained on the forum and on Martins Advice thingy that any tickets issued in England are not enforceable on private car parks. The tickets although done up to look like a parking ticket are just an invoice that can be ignored.

Perhaps tesco, knowing this, are just saving money.

  • Aha, that makes sense then.

Our local Tesco, however, is making drivers move cars from parent and child spaces that don't have children in them.

so from that it seems very contradictory to me that they don't do the same with the disabled bays that are used and abused.

I went to Tesco's last night at 8pm There was approximately 8 disabled bays I counted at least 6 cars not having a blue badge and one car even parked dead in the middle of a wide disabled bay so taken 2 bays
  • Vote with your feet, I've started shopping at Asda and Sainsburys. (Price wise really not much in it). Sainsbury has been really welcoming nice BIG parking spaces and the staff have gone to get things for me when I reached the till.
I shop by home delivery but I like to get out and see things/people sometimes.

  • Our local Morrison's don't uphold the disabled bays or parent and child spaces. I have complained in the past when people have been parked there either without a blue badge or a child. The store manager has just said its down to the guy outside doing the trolley's to keep an eye on this but very often you cannot find him as he's hidden away.

Even if you find him there is nothing he can do, apart from politely asking them to move.. If they say no thats the end of it.

I stand back from it all now and don't lety it stress me, nothing will change, it will aways happen as there are no laws to stop it.

I agree tenacioust123 little is being done to get these lazy beggers from parking in disable places. It seem to be much worse on a night, do they think disabled people wont be out on a evening or something

I had to go to Tesco CS to take something back that night felt like saying something but what's the point, they dont give a damn

Talking of Tesco's, one of their stores in Milton Keynes keeps the wheelchair trolleys chained up, and if you want one, you have to queue up at Customer Services and ask, then wait til someone's available to unlock one for you. Needless to say, I don't shop there any more.
