Ooohh I've heard the police on traffic cops etc ask for a partial number plate check or something like that. So they can search the PNC for a car matching the description with only a bit of the number plate. Guess he must mean that.

Thanks. Yes its a very very good system called the VODS. I havent had the joys of using it yet as I am only in my training, but I am sure I will be using the system. You can search vehicles by partial number plate, address, names, colours you get my drift.

What I am saying is it sounds to me like the PCSO got the right guy and car, but the person who did his letter typed the wrong make!
  • Thanks to all the people who are not against 17 year olds driving nice cars and not assuming that he is an idiot driver. I have this afternoon spoken to the Inspector and he is not very happy that the PCSO did not get the registration number at the supposed incident and more than unhappy that the wrong details have been recorded on the warning notice. Anyway, if I had any doubt about all of this I would not be persuing it but as the whole issue is totally wrong I am going to try and do what I can to get this cancelled.
Also rev_henry, you should not assume that he has no income of his own!

He actually wrote it out standing next to the car, this is my point, he has actually just picked out a car the same colour with a young person driving and assumed he has the right one. Anyway at the end of the day, there was 12 of them bowling at the time and 2 of them are policemans sons, this will probably help.
  • Probably a trainee PCSO that got it wrong.
