Vodafone Sony-Ericsson C905 complaint
Hi all, I've just sent the note below to customer services and the CEO, I'll let you know how I get on. Don't let 'em grind you down!!:D
Hi, sorry to trouble you but I can't get a satisfactory response from customer services as they appear to be reading from a script, could you please deal with this or pass it on to someone who can? Thankyou.
I upgraded to a Sony Ericson C905 in Novenber 2008 and realy wish I hadn't done so. I've been in to the Southampton store 4 or 5 times since the phone was delivered, where I've been told to download the latest software, so that hasn't been recorded, I've been in and had the phone sent away for repair twice so far and am told I have to do so again.
The faults so far are:
1. Phone goes flat within 12 hours on a random basis, mostly when I travel by road (it's searching for networks?).
2. The down button is failing, very annoying when scrolling down lists or on the internet.
3. Needs the sim card removing occasionally to get the phone to work.
4. Occasionally requires a manual search for network because it's lost vodafone.
Every vodafone shop I've visited has verbally acknowledged these phones have problems with software or sticking buttons, yet I'm stuck with it at a cost of over £300 per year, plus the £89 I paid for the phone! I've spent many hours trying to get this phone sorted out with customer services but only get the response "return it for repair". I spent another 30 minutes trying to resolve it again today, tomorrow I'll spend another 2 hours taking it back to the store, then in a week or so I'll spend another 2 hours getting the phone back, then I'll be spending more time trying to talk to someone who can resolve the issue. This is a cycle that has already taken place twice without any result. I believe that this is a vodafone tactic to wear me down and make me live with the faults, it won't work!!
I've been a customer of vodafone for many years and am very disappointed with the service I've had with this phone, every trip costs me parking plus an hour or two and my patience is running out. Each time the phone is repaired I lose all my diary info etc.
As the phone has yet to function reliably & correctly I do not believe the upgrade contract has yet been fulfilled by vodafone and would ask your assistance in providing me with a quality, reliable phone. If this is not possible can you please cancel the contract on the grounds that the phone has yet to function correctly, you can keep the funds, I'll be happy to be away from this phone.
I look forward to your reply, though I suspect I'll be receiving an automated reply followed by a standard letter.

As you had to buy the phone, wonder if it could come under sale of goods act, as it is not fit your purpose. The sim card and contract is fine, but the phone isn't and you did have to pay for it.
Have you tried contacting trading standards?Although no trees were harmed during the creation of this post, a large number of electrons were greatly inconvenienced.
There are two ways of constructing a software design: One way is to make it so simple that there are obviously no deficiencies, and the other way is to make it so complicated that there are no obvious deficiencies0 -
I followed that route with orange over son's c905.. hit a brick wall with regard to a straight swap to alternative phone ( had 3 C905's on exchange, as they don't repair ) but instead they agreed a free early upgrade new phone ( 15 months early!)Any posts on here are for information and discussion purposes only and shouldn't be seen as (financial) advice.0

My mobile has been sent away alot of times for repair. also it has been replaced for the same hand set.
