Freezing and preserving herbs

Hi
If I buy a big bunch of herbs, such as Coriander, Mint etc, I never get round to using them all up.
So I was thinking, what if I then wash what's left, chop it up ready for use, & put it into a freezer bag.
I could then easily take out exactly what I need for meals.
Any views on that?
Thanks0 -
Hi,
Im sure i have read that you can freeze them in ice cube trays and then just take out how many you need, probably best to ask on old style forum.
Hope this helpsSealed pot challenge number 003 £350 for 2015, 2016 £400 Actual£345, £400 for 2017 Actual £500:T:T £770 for 2018 £1295 for 2019:j:j spc number 22 £1,457Stopped Smoking 22/01/15:D:D::dance::dance:- 5 st 1 1/2lb :dance::dance:0 -
Yes, I do that all the time and it's fine. It's probably easier to freeze it first on a tray, and then bag it, as sometimes if you chop it and it's all a bit wet it'll stick together in a big lump. If you freeze it first loose, then it'll stay free-flowing. Or, you can chop the herbs up as bubbs says, put them in ice cube trays, add a little water and freeze like that. That works well for things like parsley, coriander and mint.0

One of the gardening books i have been reading suggested chopping herb up and adding to water in ice cube trays, which can be used straight into stews etc.
I have tried to freeze fresh herbs and they tend to break up down to nothing sometimes when they defrost, so think that chopped into water cubes a better idea. Will certainly be trying this year with any herbs I grow.0 -

Put the herbs in the freezer unchopped and then bash with a rolling pin when frozen.
Quick, easy and not massive lumps of herby ice.Put the kettle on.0 -
I chop them and freeze in ice cubes, keeping them frozen in water seems to keep them fresher and they don`t disintegrate.
I used to freeze in bags ages ago and the herbs ended up like dust after they had been moved around in the freezer when i was rummaging.
I read on here about ice cubes and thought i`d give it a try and its great.

I don't know.
If i were going to try and use them for cooking, i think what i'd do, put them in water and freeze that, a bit like an ice cube.
But i'm not sure it would work.
I was wrong, i've just found this,
