Graham, I answered much of your question yesterday on how growth is actually happening without any of the stimulus money making its way past the banks balance sheets.
The main idea of the stimulus was to shore up the banks, now that is doe we are growing again (growth will happen as business lending etc. increases) given that over the last 100's of years growth is the norm perhaps you could give us some idea and some figures why it will not happen.
As for the rest of it it is a rant for you "labelling" people and not understanding their point of view.
Has usual you play the innocent and "doh' I don't understand" card.
People have a view you may not agree, but listen as the other person may be right.I had a thought last night the people considered as bulls:rolleyes: on here.
Were last year saying.- House prices 20-35% down from peak.
- Recession to end around the end of this year start of next year.
- BOE IR rates to remain low due to defaltion risk, slow economic recovery.
How the hell was any of that bullish? Some of it might even be over bearish.0 -
The question was, when the stimulus ends, as it will do very soon, unless they pump in more, will we be able to stand on our own two feet. I.e. without stimulus.
If so, how.
All you have done is gone on about international trade and that we never stand on our own two feet. This isn't anything to do with what I asked. Now it's turned into an argument as the bulls seem to have got offended at being called a bull.0 -

More to the point can you say why growth will not be maintained and back it up? All pointers at to slow growth at the moment.

What did Mr Darling say? I think it was "this is the worst recession for 60 years".
I'm almost certain that he has access to figures and facts that the people on this board don't.
So, he publicly says that this is a bad time, we're not even certain what he said behind closed doors, but you can be sure that it's worse than he "slipped" out in an interview.
All that and we are over it in a short time with very little damage and we are now on the up with no residual problems dragging us down?
Maybe Mr Darling was using reverse psychology? Made us think it was worse than it was.Freedom is not worth having if it does not include the freedom to make mistakes.0 -

Wow.
6 pages of pointless bickering.:j“The great enemy of the truth is very often not the lie – deliberate, contrived, and dishonest – but the myth, persistent, persuasive, and unrealistic.
