I've just been reading about this one on Which, but unfortunately the Watchdog completely slated it for being unsafe.. Pitty that.
I have had mine for about 18 months and not had any problems, I did watch the watchdog programme about the actifry, some were catching fire  However I love mine, it leaves no smells, easy to clean and uses a small amount of oil.

I'm with your OH, I think they stink to high heaven. There is a person down the road who has one and we can smell it outside their house - gross!
There are many things in life that will catch your eye, only a few will catch your heart. Pursue those.
  • Ex husband has a deep fat fryer. Every time the lads come back from his I can smell it on them  and tell them to get in the shower immediately
    Yuk yuk yuk yuk yuk

Same here!! I absolutely hate the smell!! I won't have a frier in the house for that reason. My son thinks I'm a meanie cos he loves homemade fried chips
Some people see the glass half full, others see the glass half empty - the enlightened are simply grateful to have a glass :)
  • They totally stink I found, and like someone else posted, I just gained loads of weight cos the chips were too tempting

  • I'd just like to add, we now make homemade chips in the oven with one teaspoon of oil, they are yummy and very healthy

  • I love one but would end up like 10 ton tessie within a few months if I got one:rotfl::o
  • A colleague of mine keeps her fryer in the garage. So if her husband wants chips she goes and does them out there. She doesn't like the smell of chips either.

I held out for 6 years as OH was always winging on about having a fat fryer so he could have chips like momma used to make.

Gave in and got an electric fryer that claimed all the world, no smells etc, I hate it, chips are ok, but don't care if it has a lid with a supa dupa filter, it still stinks the house out.

I do meal plans now and chips only appear once a month:D
whoever said laughter was the best medicine has clearly never tasted wine

    Stopped smoking 20:30 28/09/11 :D
  • I have a deep fat fryer (semi-professional one) and use it under the extractor fan to keep smells at bay whilst cooking. I keep it in the cupboard (it comes with a metal lid) and you absolutely cannot smell it once it's cooled down and not being used.
