If Ruthha has been threatened in the way she says she has, she should, report it to the police and let them take it further with MSE. Telling someone 'look out at night where you go' is threatening, particularly to a woman.

If you understood how forums like this work, IP addresses and the law, then you would realise the police would have to get a court order, signed by a judge, in order to obtain the personal details of an individual members IP address from MSE - it ain't never going to happen.

Considering the cops don't turn up to bank raids and gang shootings, I dare say the chances of them following up on Ruttha's threats are zero as they have no probably cause/evidence to get such a court order.

You're not missing anything that advances the thread in any way.

Don't be so nieve to think that people on MSE don't make threats. There are so many trolls on here, and some are obsessed with causing trouble.

I don't understand why you I'm naive. If she's been threatened she should do something about is all I said.

I thought that might be the case. :rotfl:

Anyho, just as an update on the actual subject of Quidco not paying out, I got this via a ticket:

    Hi,

I am writing to you regarding your Sainsburys Insurance transaction.

We have been notified that, due to a large amount of organised abuse of this deal, the affiliate network dealing with Sainsburys Insurances validations is about two months behind with their processing. This is due to additional checks being made to ensure that the correct transactions are validated.

I appreciate that this will affect the length of time it will take for your transaction to go through the system but I can assure you we are in constant communication with the network and they are fully aware of the urgency of the situation. We are also keen to support any action taken against abuse of our merchants as this can also affect our members by resulting in future cashback amounts being lower, or in deals being withdrawn altogether.

I would like to thank you for your patience and understanding, this being an issue which will be affecting the whole cashback industry.

    Kind regards,

    Julie Wells

Hummm, really? So, having already waited six months with it sticking at Tracked, I now have to wait a further two months before anything happens? And they think their customers are going to be OK with this? I think not!

I know at least one other MSE member has had this ticket, so has anyone on this thread had it also? It'd be interesting to see if this has gone out to everyone with an outstanding amount from Sainsbury's Finance.

'organised abuse' is mentioned in your ticket update.

Are the networks/Quidco suffering from fraudsters? Are the mobsters getting involved in this (like they are involved in sports gambling/fixing matches, etc)

I guess folks can easily get a policy and then cancel it 14 days later leaving the insurance broker out of pocket, hence why the 6 month lead times on cashbacks.

I always believe that honesty is the best solution in life and business, even when that honesty is going to cause upset, embarrasment or whatever....in the long run it is easier to explain and move on (a good example is those MP's expenses....it just will not go away as they never came out and just put their hands up and paid up).

I think the reason we are (I'm!) upset is because the advert on Quidco's website stated three months from Tracked to Paid, which is clearly wrong. It's been six months already and they're now saying we have to wait another two just for it to validate? Then who-knows how long after that we'll have to wait for it to become paid? It's farcical!

Had Quidco originally stated that it'd be a six month validation period I would not have bothered. Or, perhaps I would have, but would have also budgeted better for the long pay-out period. As it is, they didn't so I didn't! It's so frustrating!

He said that "perhaps there is a reason why...". I'm sorry but in my opinion there is absolutely no reason why anyone should be allowed to say things like that if what she's saying is true.

I don't want to get into a debate or anything. Just wanted to say my bit and now I'll keep my peace.

I said "Perhaps there is a reason why people have little respect for you...". I did not say "perhaps there is a reason why you haven't gone to the police...".

JasonLVC, bearing in mind the priorities of the police these days, they probably would look into it.

Without going desperately off-topic....how can the police follow up on an anonymous threat to an anonymous person on an anonymous public forum?

A woman and her daughter set fire to themselves (to death) in a nearby town last year (it was in the papers last week) as a result of the police not bothering to 'prioritise' threats....and these were real threats from real people whom the police knew were causing harm.

Ruttha is in absolutely no danger of harm unless she has PM'd her private details to someone who is now stalking her. I doubt that very much. The threats may be personally distasteful but they are unlikely to come to fruition.

Back on track - there is a huge box on the right hand side of each page on this forum about forum rules and being nice to each other - whether anyone approves/disapproves of Ruttha's quest is up for debate - but not the personal attacks - publicly or otherwise.
