No one is being nasty to you Heddwen - some people,me included, sometimes think that the really hard decisions that you have to take to get your debts sorted won't be taken.

I am quite like your husband in one way. I am a self-employed courier and my business is very important to me. If it fails, I think, rightly or wrongly, that it will reflect badly on me. But to be truthful, so what if it does. Other people have much bigger worries and issues to deal with and haven't got the time to snigger at me and shout "Failure" in the street at me.

My income cant match my expenditure. I first posted on here earlier this year and used the advice wisely. The CCCS are helping with my debts and if you look on this "LOANS AND DEBTS" site under "Martins book clearing debts", you will see how I intend to save £1,000 in the next year with very little effort.

I will sink too if I dont make alterations to my lifestyle. Later this month, barring a calamity, I will be starting work part-time 16 hours per week sorting parcels for £6.75 an hour starting at 4.30am. I will then hot-foot it to my ex girlfriends to babysit for her for an hour, then home for breakfast. At 12 noon, I will be starting the courier work for six/seven hours then putting my twins to bed then going running or swimming finally creeping into bed around ten.

My point is simple - no gain without pain. Your husband must see that things HAVE to change otherwise you'll sink. I hate seeing less of my kids, I really do but needs must.

Finally, get rid of Sky. I have never had it and only miss the footie on it. But eventually everything turns up on terrestrial telly anyway.

Please Heddwen dont take this the wrong way. I am with you as many others are. ;D

Great! I'm sorry if it sounded like I was picking on you. I didn't mean to, but I was concerned.

We can't see into your home and your life, we only see what you tell us.

In your other thread, someone said (not an exact quote) that every suggestion people made, it seemed as if you responded with reasons why it couldn't be done. That wasn't quite true, you said that some things were good ideas -- but then never told us you had actually done any of them. Even if you had told us you went to CAB and it didn't help, we would have known you weren't playing the ostrich game.

A wise man named Solomon said "Faithful are the wounds of a friend". If friends say hard things that hurt but it helps you to make progress, be thankful for friends that are willing to be honest. In this case, it doesn't sound so much as if you needed the "wounds" to make progress, it was just a communication breakdown -- which often happens in computer communication.

Anyway, enough of that. With what you've done, are you gaining, treading water, or just not sinking as fast? Overall, does it feel like things are improving?

Leafleting is a good idea, inexpensive and just requires lots of effort. Can you do leaflets at the same time as your paper delivery?

I hope others can come up with ideas to advertise your rent-a-room besides the hospital staff notice board. I'm short on ideas there myself.

Is business picking up with the warmer weather? If you work hard at it, you may be able to get a lot of lawn-mowing jobs right now as well. Maybe not the best paying or most pleasant work, but if it saves your house....

Don't waste any energy being angry at people here. Take it out on your debt. Show no mercy! ;D

Everyone here wants to read the posting where you tell us the last debt is paid. :)
    Titch :)

One more thing, Heddwen. He may have a point here. You are at busy season, anyway, for the valeting and everything else. Your available time to watch Sky is going to be limited for the next 6 months, anyway. And the savings will help a little bit. You can get it back when things are a little more stable for you (if you still want it).
    Titch :)

    Heddwen,
I'm sorry if you were offended by my post but I am glad you are starting to make some progress
However I must point out that you posted 3 main posts and this is the reason some including myself didn't think you were dealing with the situation

    1 It's so unfair           posted 25th Mar
2 Is it us or bank      posted 17th apr
3 Sky box post          posted 18th apr
You posted the first knowing you were in difficulty and asking for help back in March and with the following post  it was not any better , with the third you said you want Sky +, that did not seem you were dealing with any of it

I'm sorry to say all the posts on here can do is advice only you and hubby can sort it and I hope you can
    Good luck

:-[ - holds hands up in the air

    Hello, I come in piece

I appologise for my outburst yesterday and have taken stock of things overnight.

Yes money has improved to the point we arnt sinking as fast and I think it also shook me back to reality where my focus was slipping again.

Yes the leafleting is good and yes I sneak a leaflet in with the newspaper each week. But to print it isnt cheap really. Which is why we only target areas one at a time.

I am actually going to try and get other local businesses involved and see if they want leaflets distributed. I noticed there are a few estate agents in my local town who actually pay people to deliver leaflets, I know it wont be much pay but every penny is more than we had before right?

I may also look into how to become an interviewer on the shopping parade, you know the ones who stand there with a clip-board desparately trying to catch you as you pass by to request you sign up for a catalogue? - Does this work and is it worth doing anybody done it??

At least we can do leafleting in the rain. Ok so on a wet day we're not exactly bringing in the money but trudging around the neighbourhood (and further afiield as my husband obviously drives) trying to drum up more business.

I have had a rough time as well this past month having to lose my faithful friend who shared all my woes and troubles (my dog that is).

Gone around the emotional roundabout too many times to count.

But with your help and our strengths we will conquer this and more.

Sorry again everybody for being down in the dumps yesterday.

Thanks for the help please lets be friends still?

    Heddwen :-X

"I realise you are a caring friendly lot only trying to help but sometimes comments can hurt as well so I appologise for sounding tetchy and for spouting off. Perhaps I needed to get it out of my system??"

I think there is a bit of a problem with how posts 'sound' sometimes, it's really just because you're reading it, not hearing it. You don't hear the tone of the comment.

Does that make sense? I don't always explain myself properly...... ;D

Your right it is difficult to get things across properly sometimes but everybody has to try to be aware of that and I know I have been guilty myself sometimes of sounding nasty and of taking things the wrong way :)

I write a reply, then do a preview and try to read it a few different ways. Then I post it, get a reply, and think "that's not what I meant at all!" I worry all the time that I'm going to upset someone.

    Hi everyone ;D

Just a thought Heddwen. If you are trudging the streets, why not become a Betterware/Kleeneze distributor AND an Avon representative? That way you can double your money whilst only walking the streets once. Even meter readers gat £7,148 a year for just 20 hours work per week...three jobs at once - you'll be like Richard Branson in no time!
