Lambert Pugh solicitors - anyone dealt with them?

We are currently using this company to sell our house. Their utter incompetence is driving us round the bend and having practical repercussions.
They are cheap, but not the cheapest. If it were true that you always get what you pay for, then paying a lot more would be a no-brainer .... but it isn't. Plus who hires a conveyancer regularly enough to know who's who & what's what? Not me anyway, it's 12 years since I sold a house.
Changing conveyancers at the point we're at (a week away from exchange of contracts, allegedly) would be tough. Any advice about how to get the best service possible in the circumstances?0 -
I should have heeded the negative comments as they are all true - no communication, witless and careless. They treat their customers with contempt. I was so fed up with their incompetence and intransigence that I took them to the Financial Ombudsman (and won). They are useless. Avoid at all cost.0

Just stay away from them. They are a waste of time and money. Because of them I lost more than £2,000 on a deal that never materialized at the end.
If you have any question or if you need to talk to someone, just forget it. They will never call you back and they reply with emails after weeks.
Very unprofessional and I can't understand why they are still in the business....Hi all, just had an offer accepted on a house and am looking to instruct a solictor.
Did a lot of shopping around and got the best quote from Lambert Pugh in Norwich (FTB, Freehold, Purchase price of £165,000 - quote including all disbursements and stamp duty @ £2,105).
Does anyone have any experience of dealing with this company and if yes then what were your experiences?
Thanks0 -
Dear Doctornozza,
could you please let me know what you did with Ombusdman?
I would like to recover the money I wasted on them if possible.
Thank youDoctornozza wrote: »I should have heeded the negative comments as they are all true - no communication, witless and careless. They treat their customers with contempt. Just had one house purchase aborted after four months waiting just because of these incompetent idiots.
You will not be able to cotact them by phone. They wont reply to your emails on time and all you will be left with will be frustration and grief. If some one with the name starting with the letter G is involved-best of luck!!
Enough said!!0 -
After dealing with two other people finally ended up with the elusive Mr Sola Ayeni, you can call or send email but don't expect any response. When you do get hold of somebody they are very sympathetic and make promises but very seldom keep them They made an error in not sending contract and transfer documents in time for signature but did nothing to resolve the situation. I tried to get them to send email copies so i could sign and return but they were very reluctant. As I write this review I am still waiting to hear when exchange and completion will take place.
I have used them in the past with no problem but this time it was solicitor roulette. This is not written in spite but to make people aware.0 -
If only I had read the reviews here...0

Paperwork received with 2 errors already and I'm only just about to instruct. Alarm bells ringing, decided to see what I could find and I'm so glad I've read all your reviews. Thank you all, definitely swerved a bullet! 0

£2,105 less £1,650 SDLT is £455
£1650 Stamp Duty on £165000 purchase price shouldn't it be £800?0
