Donating Hair

Options
I'm considering getting my hair cut a donating it to Little Princesses charity, I was wondering if anyone else has done this, and whether you have done any fundraising/sponsership for this.

  • I'm following a fundraising blog for ME research and one of the things the blogger has done this year to raise money is, rather than cut her hair, to save money on her hair in other ways, starting during the "Week of Questionable Hair" two months ago. She decided to let her hair grow and thus save money on haircuts - she still hasn't had it cut (though has had a nightmare about it).

Perhaps you could consider letting your hair grow rather than getting it cut to raise money? Only if you don't actually want it short, of course!

    Good luck with your fundraising!
  • Oh thank you for the link.
My hair grows at an amazing speed so I might consider donating.
Money is not the root of all evil.
It depends on how you obtain it and how you use it.

My hair is already down my back, even if I take 12 inches of it, it will still be shoulder length, good idea though if someone has shorter hair
  • I've got a long ponytail to send off gto little princess, ive known some children receive wigs from there :)

I haven't managed to donate mine yet, as my hair grows pretty slowly and usually needs a good trim for split ends before it gets to 12". It is only about 10" at the moment, and hasn't been cut for almost a year! :o

I believe they are very keen to get hair longer than the12" minimum though, as it is fairly rare - most people just donate the minimum, but longer hair can make a 'long haired' wig, and as we all know, long flowing hair for a little girl can be very important for their self image and self confidence.
    Trust me - I'm NOT a doctor!

They take hair from 10" and 1 person's hair doesn't make a wig so longer hair will probably get cut in order for a wig to all be the same length
