For question 5, I answered the expected '7 day cooling off period', but it is possible that this answer is wrong.
The way the question is worded, I felt could be interpreted as you made an appointment for a visit at your home. In this case, I think the rules are different (It does not count as 'doorstep' selling if an appointment is made), and I am not sure the cooling off period counts in this case.

I am pretty certain this used to be true, but things may have changed, and I may be completely wrong. Anyone know any better?

I thought the same as you. It's a good move if they've changed it.

  • 9/12 Got the car one wrong, but I don't even have a driving licence, so not so savvy in that area. Also ashamed to admit I did not know that white goods didn't have to come with a manufacturers warranty, and quite surprised as well. Although I cannot think of a single thing I have bought that didn't come with one...

A refund can be given, however it is at the discretion of the retailer. After 5 months of use, the item is deemed to have been accepted as conforming to contract. Whilst a retailer must resolve the problem, they are entitled to resolve it in a way which is most cost effective to them, which most of the time will be either a repair or a replacement. A full/partial refund is a last resort...

Got the first one wrong. I selected "You do not have any rights" when I mean that, I mean refund not if its unfit or not as described. You cant have money back if you simply change your mind

You bought a new top from a high street shop last week but you have since changed your mind and want to take it back. What are your rights?

    • You can insist on a refund
    • You can insist you get an exchange
    • You can insist on a credit note
    • You do not have any rights

:T Brilliant quiz! I think this sort of thing should be taught in schools as life skills, then perhaps fewer people would get ripped off.
