    My son has just asked me for a fifty thousand pound 'loan'. He is apparently dead set on entring the housing market, having recently acquired a fairly attractive but not particularly intelligent girl who seems convinced he is a professional footballer. This because she met him in Slapups when he was wearing his replica kit after a Sunday morning knockabout.

    So now they want to be settled and on the 'ladder'. I told him no, but mother has refused to cook or sleep with me again until I come to my senses.

    Property. I'm sick of it.
