Hello everyone :hello:
I am at the office and have it to myself as OH is at home painting. I've done most of what I came in to do and now I'm printing and laminating some new knitting patterns and recipes.
Did the usual cleaning this morning before coming in, hung out 2 loads of washing and took the dog for a swim at the beach. Shepherd's pie is made for tea so am going to spend a couple of hours tidying up the garden this afternoon. I have a meeting this evening so OH is in charge of bathing and putting the girlies to bed. I might even get him to do packed lunches.
Not alot else from me today

Is that work-related, HJ?0 -
Hello everyone - hope you are all well - I am still off work at the moment due to my dodgy back - waiting for a phone call from Occupational Health still. Making Tuna Pasta Bake for dinner tonight so nice and easy meal - brought some Artic rolls from Mr T's the other day (not sure if they can be made OS - if they can let me know) as they were buy 1 get 1 free and I loves them LOL - will probably have some rhubarb from the garden with it.Slimming World - SW 156 - CW 152.5 GW 133 - 19.5 lbs to go

So, I've done my Waitrose shop, spent a couple of £s more than my estimate, but then I bought a couple more things than planned. Still came in at just under £90 which was my budget. Very pleased with myself so went back in the store and bought this book:D Ooh, it's lovely- lots of yummy recipes for Indian, Carribean and Middle Eastern flatbreads, European yeast bread and loads of unusual international cakes. I don't know the author but she writes well and the recipes seem clear. I wish Waitrose didn't stock cookbooks though-I just can't help my self. Am pleased to see that it is only £1.75 cheaper at Amazon.
Anyone else feeling the cold? It's turned chilly here, must get on with something to warm me up.
Darn you thriftlady!!!!!
Have now added it to my wishlist on Amazon, along with other assorted cookbooks that popped up!
Will be taking a trip to Waitrose tomorrow to see what they have in store, still not visited the new one yet, so looking forward to it - yeah yeah I know I'm mad!;):D
edit: actually that book has reminded me that I'm meant to be collecting some recipes from a few of the chefs that oh knows, when I was little my friend's Polish nan used to cook us some amazing food, and as oh has several Polish pals I'm hoping to get some really good recipes! Also the kids had friends who's mum was from South Africa, so I'm hoping the two chefs we know will give me a hand recreating some dishes too. Just wondering how many other nationalities I can badger for authentic home cooking - think there were representatives of 14 countries at our last bbq!GC Oct £387.69/£400, GC Nov £312.58/£400, GC Dec £111.87/£4000 -

:D please please pretty please.
I just ran a google search for "Dog Biscuit Recipes". There are a fair few out there. The ones I'm using at the moment are on this page: http://www.petforums.co.uk/dog-health-nutrition/6456-homemade-dog-biscuit-recipes.html
I've made the first ones and they went down a treat (didn't sample them myself though...). Might try the apple punch pup-cakes next.

Tru....that River Cottage day sounds wonderful.
Nothing exciting happening here to-day, just washing and cooking....have some spelt bread in BM for DD3 at present....doesn't look great but we'll see how it is when it comes out.
Went to chemist's and when we got back the cats had brought in and killed a small bird...corpse and feathers all over kitchen and a live mouse was being chased by Thunder....mouse made it into computer room and I managed to catch it in a welly boot let it out into the garden, so feel that I have prevented a murder to-day! Felt that the mouse deserved freedom as, while I was on my way with the boot he/she faced up to Thunder as if saying....go on cat do your worst, I'm not afraid of you!
Left over chicken, veggies and baked potatoes for dinner....with some apple sponge and ice-cream left over from yesterday!
Hugs to all in need or want, congratulations to all who are celebrating and welcome to any newbies around

Trombone Day today so had to get myself up and dressed and give DS a lift to school, rather than sitting with my feet up and a second cup of tea and waving the kids out the door, hrrumph. Decided to make the most of it though and went to the allotment. Lots to harvest...potatoes, sweetcorn, green and runner beans, carrots, salad, cabbage...got some onions and garlic out the store too. And raspberries...there were a couple of pounds on the canes, easy.
Downside of all this is that I had to clean and prep it all once home. I do sometimes envy the more traditional allotment method of Man does gardening bit, Wife does the kitchen bit. Unfortunately OH's idea of gardening is employing someone to put down some concrete. However I like to get it all done in a one, so I can clean the sink of all the dirt.
Having the leftovers of last night's roast chicken for dinner with roast carrots, "new" potatoes, corn on cob, ice cream and rasps for pud. I'll turn the rest into raspberry coulis for the freezer. There should be enough chicken scraps for stir fry tomorrow, and I've made stock for soup. I did a baking as well...two loaves of white bread, some fruit scones and flapjack for the lunch boxes.
Fresh sweetcorn straight from the allotment/garden is food for the gods, btw. No shop bought will ever compare!Val.0 -
:hello: Finally made it on here!
Marie, before i forget i want to wish you a wonderful holiday - i thought I'd best do it now so i won't forget!
Looby Lou - When are you off to NZ? Have you been before? DH and i are going in January - no family to visit there, just travelling around for 7 weeks, we've no kids to worry about. Well, one is still at home, but he's 24 so I'm sure he can look after himself.
rnshon - Nice to see you back! Hope baby arrives very soon. I used to hate the bit at the end of pregnancy, when people kept saying things like "Are you still around?"
Welcome to our new and returning posters:wave:
Jayward -Sorry you are so tired atm. Have you had your iron levels checked recently? Just a thought.
((((HUGS)))) to everyone's who's poorly or looking after poorly children or OHs.
I made bolognese last night; I decided to try a different recipe and trawled through my cookbooks, and ended up adapting the one in the River Cottage Meat Book (which reminds me, tru, glad you had such a good day!) It needed adapting, as Hugh wants you to use 1 kg of mince, and I only had 3/4 lb:p so I made up the difference with carrot and celery and used only a can of tomatoes, not passata as well. One day i'll try making it "properly"! . I used his way of browning the meat then deglazing the pan with a glass of red wine, and I was astonished at the difference it made to the flavour! DS said "Yeah, it was nice - but I wouldn't mind a bit of Dolmio now and again, after all, it was what I was brought up on!":o:o
And this afternoon i've made blueberry muffins, which seem to have come out okay even though I forgot to sift the dry ingredients until they were all already in the bowl, so had to do the best i could with the sieve, scooping up sievefuls and sifting them:D I'm so glad I remembered there were some blueberries lurking at the back of the fridge! I usually find them weeks later.
Dinner tonight - probably bacon chops, with spuds and cauli (39p from Lidl)
Hope everyone has a good evening.:wave:0
