1. We don't need two forums -- YES, I think that we do.
2. We won't get two forums -- That is a matter for MSE bosses, and it's members (currently in discussion). This is the reason I emailed MSE direct, See OP.
3. If it bugs you that much (which from the length of your many replies it evidently does) then you could always start your own forum specifically structured to your requirements. -- MSE is world reknowned, it has the members, the numbers, the community, and therefore the info & input necessary to make it all worthwhile - GIOL only needs is some fine tweaking to make it perfect for all our MB'ing careers.
4. I think this thread deserves one of these:
I will say no more on this matter.
I think it's a thread that deserves a gold star:p0 -
Good point. Not being especially interested in casinos etc (except for Quidco/Rpoints cashback), I'd overlooked that.
If you don't mind me raiding your thread TT, and the matter has cropped up in your thread, I've just PM'd misskool as follows:
'Good morning
The palaver we have seen this morning resulting in your locking a thread involving northern1981 highlights something that, by a strange coincidence, I have actually commented on in Tartantipster's new thread today. It's the hoary old chestnut - the GIOL name.
Because of its name it will attract punters, people who haven't had a bet but fancy the idea, people who have the odd flutter. They won't pick up the purpose of GIOL straight off, and certainly won't be bothered reading through screeds of advice. They just want to ask about 'having a bet'.
Some responses are far too tough and lack understanding: we don't discuss gambling on here (how immediately rude and off-putting must that be to a newcomer to the thread!). Most replies are kind and point the righteous way to making money.
Personally I think the word 'gambling' in the title is unfortunate and will attract existing or potential gamblers. It would be a big decision to change it but I think it would be a good decision.
Regards
schiff'
I wonder if any Hear, Hear's would help?
I see your point. However, there aren't many alternatives that don't have the same problem.
Perhaps "Sportsbook Introductory Offer Loopholes" or "Bookie Introductory Offer Loopholes"
But again, that will attract any users of bookies whether mbers or casual punters.
However, we need some indicator of the type of offer being exploited in the forum name, to keep it to mbing and related activities.Competition wins: Where's Wally Goody Bag, Club badge branded football, Nivea for Men Goody Bag0 -
I like the idea of a sticky with new offers. We could subscribe to it and get an email every time someone posted a new offer, which might help break my addiction to horses in hats......
However, on the 'Up Your Income' board there is a mystery shopping alerts thread, which many people use in the same way, getting alerts sent to their mobiles. About half of this thread is usually taken up with posters complaining that someone has posted something which isn't an alert....... It's still a useful thread, though!Ex board guide. Signature now changed (if you know, you know).0 -
I can’t understand all the defeatist ‘if it ain’t broke don’t fix it’ (someone actually used that phrase!) attitude that has been so quickly mooted on this thread. Things move on and if this forum doesn’t it will die. I happen to think TT suggestion is a good one and it would certainly be better for me if it was organised as he suggests but even if you don’t agree you should be thinking of ways to improve the board rather that getting all defensive. Several people actually criticised my lunchtime post supporting TT suggestion because I said it was what ‘I’ ‘wanted’. !!!!!! I am not even allowed my own opinion now? I don’t claim to speak for anyone else and I never have done.
OT but I also want to comment on something said by someone below about the WillHill BOGOF being a good example of how the board works well! I have to disagree, it is so clogged with drivel that it is now near useless IMO. Easier and quicker to check the willhill site directly – to me this a clear sign that there is room for improvement. Some of you guys may not have a problem wading through 2-3 pages to see if there might be a new offer but I, and I’d even go as far as to say maybe a couple of others too, would view this as a waste of valuable time.0 -

It's not a decision which can be made by GIOL members. We can suggest something, sure, but I am of the impression that, unless we can come up with something better than "it would make it easier not having to wade through chat to find the offers" it'll be a non-starter.
I'm another one who is happy with the board as it is at the moment. I find it very convenient only having to look through the thread titles in one forum.Competition wins: Where's Wally Goody Bag, Club badge branded football, Nivea for Men Goody Bag0 -

I suggested a sticky thread where someone could post all the offers and you wouldn't have to wade through the chat but it was dismissed as clearly it wouldn't work
I'm not sure what else I can do in my role, sorry for failing you

Hi misskool, I was not referring to you you in my previous post. I think you do a good job.0 -

I agree, members will not decide, MSE will, but MSE will listen to opinion & logic before making a final decision.
The reasons I give for change most certainly do not rely on "it would make it easier not having to wade through chat to find the offers". The OP and my thread replies are testimony to that.0 -

You are not failing anyone, you're a star, doing an often thankless job, for no pay, however, if it won't work, it won't work, it has to be the way I said.:beer:0
