Someone has copied my listing!!

I was just looking on ebay and found that someone is selling the same dress that i had been selling and has used my pictures and my exact wording!!! They have even said since they have 'took' the picture they lost the belt on the dress after that! Which even more confirms they obviously didn't take the picture! Does anyone know if theres anything I can do about this as thats just plain rude!!!

  • Yeah. Report the listing. If you can't find any other reason then copyright I guess, as the copyright on the pics are yours. It's not allowed to do that on ebay though, so yes, you can get the listing pulled if you contact and explain, but the Report Listing button should make it easy.

Just report the listing, and eBay will remove it. Take it as a compliment. ;)

Thanks both I have just done that, it annoys me when you take time to do a listing and someone just copys it without permission!! Suspose it is compliment in a way :) but annoying still! I think I read on here somewhere that someone tried putting their user name on their pictures to stop this happening, i might start doing that.
  • Does anyone know how long it takes once you have reported a listing for them to remove it? As I reported the listing last night for the violation and it still hasn't been removed and the listing ends tonight.
  • It doesn't necessarily end in the listing being removed - they do take a while to investigate, and expect them to ask you for proof that the copyrighted material is yours (ie when you posted your listing, compared to when the other seller posted etc). They can decide to take action against the other seller, but they won't tell you, the offended party, what they have done - takes half the satifaction out of reporting it :p.

:) They have removed it now, they did ask for proof which I gave them the item number. They sent me an e-mail saying they confirmed the listing is no longer active due to the person using my pictures and text without my permission.

    Does it really matter?

Why are so many people getting annoyed by such little things?

I've had ebay photos "stolen" from me in the past - I just think "good luck to them". I've sold my item, made a little profit, and someone has got a bargain. If someone who doesn't have access to a digital camera wants to use my old photo - then, as I said before, good luck to them.

TO FINISH LAST, FIRST YOU HAVE TO FINISH....
  • must admit I have borrowed a couple of Ebayers stock photos in the past and cropped them down - but I do wait for the other Ebayers listing to finish first before listing mine
As Martin says - please be nice - there is no such thing as a stupid question ! ;)

For me, it does matter. I spend a long time taking photos, pinning the dress for a perfect fit et etc and writing a description in order to try and obtain the best possible price for the item.
It is annoying that somebody just copies and paste because they are lazy.
Also, the photos they use, will be of your 'item' and not theirs.
can be misleading if the item they are selling is not as in good condition as the original listing
