Addicted to sums, totals & spreadsheets....Am I the only one?

Goooood Morning Fellow Spreadsheet Addicts! What a nice thing to be addicted to!
Right, well I have mine updated now.
Tab1 shows Income. Exactly what's on my payslips for months passed and a predicted one for months to come. I am on a development plan which increases my wage until Aug 2010 so all of that is calculated on there (so I know also if they try to rip me off).;)
Tab2 keeps all the dates when payments come out and payments come in (all 2 of them!). I reference this frequently as one payment's every 4 weeks and can never remember when it falls.
Tab3 is my biggy - I am so proud of this one. It copies some data for income from tab1 (not all tax and NI stats etc, just net pay), has my current balance (manual entry, updated daily) and then all my outgoings split down. It takes current balance, add in income then removes the outgoings and leave me with new forcast balance. Dead easy really - I just can't explain too well! Then the new balance is the starting figure for next months predictions. This is done right up until my DFD sometime in the next 20 yrs! It actually says I will have money in the bank!!! Obviously there will be lots of things to add in as things come up but it's a good starting point.
Tab 4 is dedicated to my 2 big debts showing current balance and payment schedule plus interest. Gives me DFD for the individual balances. Then when one's paid off I move the payment to the other one.
Tab5 records all my challenges (PaD, spare change, Grocery etc and my status)
Tab6 is a copy and paste from whatsthecost.com showing my latest snowball figures
Tab7 shows my payment schedule for kitchen which could be combined with other one but I don't want to! :-)
Tab8 shows petrold stats (SAD) how many miles I do a minimum a week so showing minimum cost which I add £15 to for petrol allowance - WIP
Tab9 Childacre schedule and costs
Tab10 is WIP showing my annual costs = how much i spend in each area
Tab11 is my occasion planning, birthdays anniversaries and costing them out.

Is it wrong that when a friend "lets" you MSE their finances the first thing you say is "To the spreadsheets!!":j

I also use a spreadsheet to monitor my cash flow.
Weeks across the top and income and expendiiture down the side.
Projected forward for 24-30 months.
I tick it off against my bank statement every month.
Running underneath the numbers I also graph the closing balance for that week and a seven week moving average of the closing balance centred on that week.
I find the graph very helpful in two ways. The weekly graph lets you see at a glance any possible overdrawn weeks. The moving average graph gives you a better idea of the trend in your balance.0 -
I have a workbook that monitors my balances, interest and payments. I have 2 other sheets that project the best case and worst case scenario.
And i though this was overkill. :think:After falling off the gambling wagon (twice): £33,600 (24,000+ 9,600) - Original CC Debt: £7,885.91

I use spreadsheets a lot for work, and have to write reports to show performance against targets, projections etc. It only recently became obvious that I could do the same for MSEing, so when I had my ‘real’ (as opposed to false and/or half-hearted) LBM, I made one to help me track repayments against outstanding balance with interest etc. I’ve been modifying it ever since, and now have multiple versions with different scenarios, (all with time series graphs) so that I can easily see which method would be the most suitable.
I’ve become a big fan of graphs and charts, both as motivational tools and as a way of simplifying things. I can maintain motivation as I watch the graphs descend over time and set myself the challenge of making the angle of the graphs more and more acute as payments increase. Pie charts are also handy, so I can maintain the proportion of my income given over to debt repayment at a decent level (currently 47%).
On a wider point, this project has helped me at work, at uni and with MSEing, and each of the three contribute to one another in some way, so I’m maximising my skills. Just goes to show how MSE can help improve much more than just finances!

Just a note of caution - probably don't need to say it though.
Don't keep your bank details, account numbers and passwords etc in a workbook.
If your computer got stolen, they could access alot more than just the computer. If you do, put passwords in note form so that it makes sense too you and nobody else.
