Addicted to sums, totals & spreadsheets....Am I the only one?

Am completely addicted to my spreadsheets - I feel more organised and in control than I have done in a very long time - even though I am in debt. It's great to see when various debts are estimated to be paid off by and then trying to beat those dates.
It's the best addiction I have encountered so far :j

I need to amend my spreadsheet - it calculates the interest and payments on all my cards, but once i update and get a little kick out of that, all i can see is the amount i have outstanding. I need to add the amount i have paid off and how much interest i have not paid methinks. The happy feeling should last longer then. After falling off the gambling wagon (twice): £33,600 (24,000+ 9,600) - Original CC Debt: £7,885.91

I will admit it too!
LBM was Christmas 2007. 4 kids and 22K of Debt and I wasn't quite 30. I am now at £9k outstanding.
My Wife thinks I would rather spend the night with excel than her sometimes but she knows its for the greater cause!!
I have a monster too that infinitly tells me what my Ins/outs are for any year in the future. Linked to this is the savings one and another showing outstanding debt balances.
If it weren't for my mighty spreadsheet I wouldn't have been able to post the final £300 cheque to clear the TC overpayment today!! Yipee, another one paid off.
God Bless Micrsoft Office...Was in debt £23k- Not now (12/07-12/10):T
Did smoke- Not any more (26-02-11):j
I am not perfect but everyone loves a trier don't they??:A0 -
I used to have a spending diary, SOA and snowball that all spoke to one another, but in the end it all got too circular and I left it too long in between uses and forgot what I had done (and to label it properly) so that the thought of unpicking it to start using it again made me want to sob gently. I decided that it was easier to start again :rotfl: (and i am an analyst by trade - I should really have known better)
that said, I do love a good spreadsheet and use them for my snowball, siggy calculations, SOA calculations, corraling my book club, planning holidays, planning the big update from VHS to DVD etc etc£34,547 (Dec 07); Current debt: £zilch (Debt free December 2010)

I wish banks would add some more functionality to their online banking. It wouldn't take much to add some filters, so that you could look at what came in and out over a certain period, or even how much you've spent with certain vendors etc. Then if you had that, you could then have charts and displays of the data.
That would be a whole new world of geekery for us!"I have enough money to last me the rest of my life, unless I buy something."0 -
Wow - what a fab thread - there are people out there like me!!!!! how fab! We could set up out own business with all the mathematical calcs we've got going on between us!
I too have a monumental SS with all sorts in it from grocery costs to predict spend against menu plan to what my remaining income will be against my spends in x months time. I can not agree more with you Little Miss. The obsession is thoroughly positive and commendable. It allows you to feel in control and like you are doing something while you're waiting for the next pay day or whatever to make your next payments - also stops you wishing your life away by just sitting there wishing for pay day - we're too busy figuring out the best way to spend the cash (ie on which debt!).
FAB thread - thanks xx0
