Tesco complaint help

My cousin purchased a tin of cat food from Tesco. The cat food was by the Tesco company. She opened the tin and cut herself quite badly to a point where her hand bled a lot and the flesh can be seen and is a deep cut. Around the cut it is blue and she going to struggle to write in school. The cut happend because the tin was jammed and wouldn't open.
I am extremely annoyed:mad: and can you recommend anything?
Any advice, who to contact?
Never really complained before properly.
Thanks
Edit: Just asked my cousin if she opened it maybe like carelessly, she said it was jammed. Got stuck half way opening it, so she had to open it a different way.

Take more care next time?
They are no different to any other tin are they? Certainly the dog food isn't.
Accidents happen - learn to open the tin carefully and stop trying to find someone to blame for every little thing that happens in life.0 -
Sorry to hear about this but i can't really see how this is Tesco's fault.
A tin was opened by a consuner and the rough edge cuts her hand possibly out of slight carelessness or error. Dont see how Tesco would be liable for this...
Maybe i am wrong???0 -
I really can't see that Tesco can be blamed for this. They sold an unopened can which was safe to handle ie no sharp edges. All cans will have sharp edges when opened and its very easy to cut yourself - corned beef tins are the worst and I've cut myself many times when the key breaks off half way round or the meat gets stuck. Its the customers choice to continue trying to open the tin if it gets stuck - and the customers own fault if it causes an injury. Tesco didn't sell it with a sharp edge.
I think your cousin is pushing her luck if she tries to make a claim.ELITE 5:2

I stubbed my toe on the bathroom door last month. I am in the process of taking B&Q to court as there was no warning signs anywhere on the door.
I also think they should not have made them out of such tough material as wood.
I have now applied a safety cushion to the bottom of each door ( at my expense) to prevent this serious accident happening in the future.
It could quite easily have been a childs toe that was stubbed.0 -

a good wash under cold water and a decent sticking plaster.
Why is it always someone elses fault
!!!!!!:rolleyes:make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.

I lost an eyelash in a nasty mascara incident this morning - who do I sue?
OP - if the plaster / bandage doesn't improve the healing process maybe you should sue the company - your cousin might sue you if you don't come up with a decent compensation package for them :rolleyes:0 -
