Tesco may give you access to receive emails for a while after you change ISPs, but you won't be able to use their servers to send them.
Get yourself an non ISP dependent email account such a Google Mail. That gum you like is coming back in style.0 -
grrr so i cant do it then0

You can get your own domain:
eg: omar.co.uk
Then you could have something like omar@omar.co.uk regardless of which ISP you use. There are many other advantages of having your own domain as well.
Plenty of suppliers, I use :

Can you change your account to a Tesco Dial-up account? See if this enables you to keep your existing e-mail address. If so, just check the small print to see how often you have to use it to keep it active.Personally I'm always ready to learn, although I do not always like being taught - Sir Winston Churchill0 -
What's the big problem with changing an email address? You set up a Googlemail account (10 minutes) which you can then take with you whenever you change ISP. You then send one group email advising every one you want to of the change (2 mins). You then just have to log into any online accounts and change the address for notifications etc.
You can easily do all this in the 10 days or so it takes you to migrate your broadband. No free lunch, and no free laptop0 -
When I left ntlworld, I set up an auto forwarding so that I would receive all email in the interim on my new account and change them to my new email over the next few months - but I was still getting ntlworld ones coming through for the next 18 months.0

thats interesting...how do you forward emails to your new account?0

OP, if you migrate to O2, remember to do this through Quidco so you get the £50 cashback. With the O2 mobile discount and the cashback, plus first 3 months free if you sign up by 31/0, the total (not monthly) first year cost is reduced to £16.06.
However to get the £7.34 per month rate you must be on an O2 LLU exchange. No free lunch, and no free laptop0
