3 Contract

I went into the Three store to discuss gettin a Blckberry under my current contract which is paid for by my dad. I couldn't get it without paying for the phone cos my upgrade isn't until November. He then showed me a E71 which is cheaper and offered to let me try it till monday, if I didn't like it I could return it and get the Blackberry under my own name.
At home, I checked over the paper work and it seems like a valid contract except I haven't signed anything. They credit checked me, the paperwork is in my name and it lists the phone & tariff type. So I'm wondering can I actually return the phone & cancel the 'contract' without paying anything?
Thanks.

Did he punch your credit card - well read your card details.
Sounds like you have been sold a new contract, never heard of people saying you can "try it at home" (in the context of someone personally oferring you a phone to try without a contract).
Best adviced to return to it and cancel within 7 days (......if you do not like the E71).
But if you got it in store - then it might be difficult to cancel.0 -
Yeah he did read my card details, checked my card was valid and I passed the credit check. But the details printed on the 'contract' are very basic. No mention of when the money will come out or how the contract will be paid. Maybe I'm just used to detailed contracts like the CPW do.
I'll stop by Monday anyway to talk to them cos as far as I was aware, we were just discussing the differences in phones and which is better, I didn't actually want to get a contract today.
Thanks though.Realism is only a state of mind...0 -
Not much comfort but I think (as I said before) you have been sold the contract. Its naughty. Write down everything that was said and done for your record.
You might just want to phone up 3 (as you already have a contract) in advance of going back to the shop on Monday. Also might be worth considering getting advice from consumer direct on the matter (see here http://www.consumerdirect.gov.uk/)
PS - I might be wrong of course, he might be genuine but I am always suspicious :-).0 -
As has been reported on here many, many times. Once you've used a phone from 3 they will not take it back.
Sounds like the guy in the shop was trying a fast one, I might even suggest that, that was his last day and was trying to get as much commission as possible . . .0 -
There is no 14 day return on three. It reads to me like you are now stuck with 2 contracts for the next few months! It is better to be thought of as an idiot than to open your mouth and remove all doubt0
