I am always who I am.

I don't need any new friends.

I'm still not convinced that you haven't participated in a bit of 'sockpuppetry' in your time on here ;). You have that look about you .

I know of many that would post online with various identities, thats what the web is about to half the users isn't it?

I just post as I am though won't be heard until I'm accepted as part of the forum - like real life. There are people that are familiar to others online and resond to eachother on a regular basis, they tend to dominate most forums but you have to ask to they ever go out for a walk or read a book, or indeed have any other people in their lives???

You can often tell by the amount of posts they've written over, sometime many years - people are rewarded for this in the amount of stars they get, often akin to staircasing. ie the longer you've been on and the more you've contributed - the higher up you are and more renowned.

That doesn't mean to say you are any the wiser, more popular nor more interesting than new comers.

    Socially, it's an interesting observation

I disagree with the above a bit.

Thing is with forums it's the written word so suits some personalities better than others in terms of communicating with their fellow humans.

Without wanting to get into any lengthy debate (as it's Sunday), in Real Life one is judged by how one looks initially, or how one presents or appears to others.

To some of the heavier, economics gurus on this site, my views would be totally invisible to them in Real Life Land because of what I do and how I look.

The whole star thing isn't that impt. as it depends on how long one has been a member.
You do get familiar with people though, but that is just normal...though, I agree, when one first posts somewhere, it takes a while to be accepted....but that's the same in real life.

Oh I know. When I first came here everyone seemed to think I was a right annoying little idiot, full of ego and posting up my @ss 'jokey' posts. Now they know I am.

I was once a newcomer to this board and at first didn't think I would belong as I am not a home owner or even a person who wants to own but after trying other boards where my particular sense of humour doesn't quite work (people think I am being serious which 90% of the time, I am not!), I found this board had fellow warped and weird humour people in it.

So it felt like home and here I stayed, only to venture out when it's a full moon into the mortgage board (ok a bit more often than that to be honest).

To me a new member is the same as an old member....if I find them funny or informative, it doesn't matter one jot if they have one star or five stars.
We made it! All three boys have graduated, it's been hard work but it shows there is a possibility of a chance of normal (ish) life after a diagnosis (or two) of ASD. It's not been the easiest route but I am so glad I ignored everything and everyone and did my own therapies with them.
Eldests' EDS diagnosis 4.5.10, mine 13.1.11 eekk - now having fun and games as a wheelchair user.
