How do I stop this?

Hi
I know most will not see this as a problem but it’s annoying me and I shouldn’t have to put up with it, should I?
I have a building society account with Bradford and Bingley (aka Abbey, aka Santander!) and a random £20 is being deposited into it from someone every month. I don’t know who and understandably the building society won’t tell me but they also won’t investigate/do anything about it.
By the end of the year, if it keeps up, I’ll have £240 in my account that’s not even mine and while I know I’ll gain from the interest why should I look after their money and see my balance drop when they eventually realise and claim it back? They could even increase the amount! Ahhhhh!
Surely there is a way for the building society to bounce it back as it is coming from a place and not just over the counter, that much they will tell me.
Thanks

B+B is not a building society. It is a trading name of Banco Santander. A bank.
Nothing they can do about it.
Either just ignore the money until the payer realises their mistake or close your account!
What does it say on your statements next to the £20 credits?
All my statements with other organisations have a description next to the credits with the name of the originator.0 -
It was a building society when I opened the account.
I don't want to close the account so I'll leave it I guess then0 -

I would think that someone else has set up a standing order for £20 per month which is going into your account by mistake, when they check their regular saver? account they will soon take the cash back off you,if you are staying with B+B (i,ve jumped ship to Yorkshire BS-I know how bad abbey are from them taking over N+P) it might be wise to transfer the £20 into another account till this is sorted.
ps I,ve got a regular saver with Dunfermline BS,I went 8 years once without getting the book updated so it could take a while.I have a deep burning indifference0 -
This is really stupid. I cant believe it. I cant believe the bank isn't more helpful. What a society we live in.0
